Mobil 1 synthetic oil on 2008 328i

Hello,

We recently bought a 2008 328i and are getting ready to do the first oil change. I was curious what luck you guys have had with the Mobil 1 synthetic oil on the 328. Do you guys recommend using it (Instead of the over priced Castrol oil BMW recommends), or is it not as good as another brand? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Aventador97

The M1 0w40 is the correct spec for BMW. It's available for $25 for 5qt at Walmart

Yes deffo recommend Mobil 1 over Castrol. I've used Mobil 1 fully synth 0W-40 in various cars for decades and never had a single internal engine issue.

I've been running Amsoil 5w-40 euro formula but have been thinking about switching to Mobil 1 0w-40 since it is available locally, though I get both for about the same price. I'm not an Amsoil fan boy, but it has never given me any issues and has been extraordinary in my motorcycles. You can't go wrong with the Mobil 1 though. It's a quality oil for our cars

Do not get Castrol 0w30 euro formula, I had small amount of metal shaving when changing my oil. I'm switching to Mobil 0w40 euro synthetic and will post back with result.

Thank you guys very much for the info. I have gathered the same consensus online through reviews as well. At this point I'm pretty sold on doing the mobile 1 oil. That's what I have in the other cars and it has worked well on those as well. Thanks again for the info and advice.
