Saw a new thread re: e92 M3 vs. e92 335i +JB4 on the M3 boards... and wondering why there is nothing but negativity when it comes to the 335i in comparison...

First off, I have nothing but love for the M3 ... and I know we are not on their level... but our rides are still badass... I don't see us non-M owners shit talking M's even though a small tune can make us equivalent or faster...

So why the hate???

In all seriousness, I don't really care. I love my car, and I'm sure they love theirs as well. To each their own!

JB4, while it does add a LOT of horsepower, does not turn a 335i into an M3. They're completely different cars.

I have respect for all BMW tuners. I own a E90 M3 and a E90 328 and love both the cars in different ways. The M3 is obviously fun as hell to drive. Lots of power very responsive and turns heads everywhere. On another note I am a turbo head too and love 335's. It was a toss up just before I got the M3 to get a E90 335 and do the vinishu single turbo upgrade. So in short I have love for everyone.....

Same reason the vast majority of 335i driver's give no respect to a car like the the VW GTI. It is a perfectly decent car at the top of its segment but the BMW driver views it as inferior and unworthy of respect. The same thing happens to M3 drivers when they encounter most 911 pilots. This is repeated up the automotive food chain until you get well up into the supercar realm. Even then you have Ferrari owners looking down their noses at Lamborghini drivers because they see them as too "new money"...

It really comes down to being a car enthusiast vs. a badge whore. Which are you?

because they're right. just because a 335 has the potential to go faster in a straight line, doesn't mean it''s a faster car. an m3 will still beat it around a track unless the 335 is insanely modified. and even then, for the money some people put into a 335 to make it that much faster, they could have or almost have an m3. I think I'd rather the m3

plus when a thread like that comes up and all the 335 bozos go over and shit talk them in their own forum, why wouldn't they get defensive?

in my mind, I don't care what one does to a 335, the m3 will always be better, cooler, more badass

Like others have said, just looking down the food chain.

When I first got into cars, I started looking at Mazda RX8's. Everyone on those forums wanted a BMW 135i. Then people on the 135i/335i forums wanted an M3. Then the M3 owners wanted a Porsche Cayman S/ 911 Carrera/ Nissan GTR. Then those owners wanted an Audi R8 or 911 Turbo. Then those owners wanted a Gallardo or F430. Then those owners wanted a Murcielago or 599. Then the 599 owners wanted a 599 GTO but bitched about not being able to get one unless they bought 2 used Maserati's and lent the sales manager their wife. Until you have a Bugatti, Pagani, or Koenigsegg in the driveway, there is nowhere to go but up.

People on Ferrarichat laugh about the M3, we are all peasants to them.

jk. like others have already said, its going to be about ego at the end of the day. We all think we can beat each others' cars. Most of the people on these forums are men, and with men comes pride and ego. I don't want to see a 328 beat me in a straight, nor would the m3 guys want to see a 335 burn past them. It's all about pride in what you own.

I know plenty of M3 drivers-both in real life and on the forums.
They all have been very respectful, very mature, and very classy for the most part.

You want to know what I see more of? 335 drivers thinking they're hot shit or driving something exclusive or exotic, and living under the illusion that they can beat every single thing on four wheels on the road.

Just remember kids- for every one M3 prick there are at least 10 335 pricks

Why the hate? Simple. They are tired of hearing from 18 year old 335i drivers that they can "rape" or "eat M3s" with their JB4s. M3s are at a different level. Each platform has it's merits. Many 328, 335, and M3 owners respect each other. I can go to Auto Couture and talk to 911, Maserati, M3, Ferrari owners and so on about cars and we all have respect for each other whether it's an owner with a 230 hp car or 600 hp car. Yet, the more affordable the 335 becomes the more kids buy high mileage ones throw on tunes and talk junk to everyone else.

It's immature and annoying. Look at this guy above me ^ "328's suck. lol" Not only did he use an apostrophe and give possession to "328" for no apparent reason it was needless to throw in there. That is the stupidity that drives these owners to look down on each other.

Because they think they're big shit cause their car cost much much more. Don't get me wrong here, an M3 is a complete beast and I agree its better than 335s, 328s and 325s, but some M3 owners (not all) take it to another level.. They make it seem like their car is the cream of the crop. 335s will destroy Ms in a straight line with a couple perf mods but will get destroyed around the track.

The E9x M3 is basically our big bro so there's always gonna be little fights here and there..just gotta learn to love what you drive and move on
