Is the dealer going to charge me?

So I just bought a set of new lci tails for my 09 e92 a few weeks ago from Tischer.

I had them coded and a few days later I got a error message on the idrive saying "left two-stage brake lamp" malfunction.

I'm out of warranty. My question is...
If I take it to the dealership to have it checked out, will they charge me just to look at it? Or only to fix it?

Kinda stupid to spend $500+ on an OEM part and have bs issues like this already..

Put the pre lci ones in and recode back to stock and see if the problem lays in the coding to lci before going to the dealership.

Talk to Tischer. If O.E.M. they should have warranty.

Do they work normally? Might be a simple coding issue. Save yourself some $$$. Do they flicker when you start the car? Do all bulbs illuminate?

I remember when I did the whole LCI tails on my pre LCI coupe I needed a wire harness. OP, you DID get those wiring harnesses too, right?

Highly unlikely the dealer is going to diagnos your car for nothing.

Take the time to do some research and find a good independent mechanic in your area. Bring the car in for an oil change or other routine work and mention the code as well. Many indy's are decent shops that don't gouge like the dealer. Good luck.
