aux interference whine sound.
I have a 09 335i with hd radio. For some reason when I use the aux input I get what sounds like interface or a whineing sound.
Anyone have the same issues? The car is cpo but I am aware it does not cover the radio but idk what category that would fall in. I purchased the car from bmw about 30 hours ago. Im going to call them tomorrow morning. |

Do you have your smartphone (which I'm assuming is your audio device) at max volume? That's what happened with mine (same results with the USB port) so I keep the iPhone at half volume and blast the car's stereo volume.
Oh and get a Blackberry Music Gateway. So much better than using the aux port.

Is your phone plugged into the power as well? Whines are usually ground faults but since a phone is "floating" it shouldnt' cause any issues unless there is another ground path (like a phone charger).

And an interesting note, When i turn my iphone volume full blast, the humming noise goes away in my car, but there is still a slight hum.

Your issue is caused by impedance. It is basically the static noise that you are receiving. The reason for the sound is do to not enough power in the aux input. I have brought this up to BMW a couple times, and they do not have a solution. However, there is a way to fix the problem. If you buy a portable amplifier ($50-150) it will solve the power issue which is causing the noise. Audio device to amp and amp to aux port in car. It will give enough power to play your music. Companies like Fiio works really well.
The other solution is a usb stick (not all are compatible). I found the best results is to get a microsd card, and a reader which has a standard usb port attached to it. Aux will only give you 2.1 audio which is all it is rated for however, music through usb will let you use the full potential of your stereo system; resulting in "cd quality music" 128kbps and up. |

My car does this also. I have a Galaxy S3 with a Monster 3.5mm 4ft cable. It's so annoying. I do use my USB drive mostly, but I have Google Music subscription, and want to listen to that once it a while. Highly annoying.

Turning the volume on your device down will in fact increase the feedback. What you need to do is purchase a better aux cord not one from bestbuy. I did that and the problem was solved.

Same here. I've tried all volume levels on my iPhone and nothing works. I have 3 cables. One was $20 and it still does the same thing.
I've given up on it. Impedence like mentioned before.

If you turn down the volume on the deck, it should go away. Mine had that issue, and with the aux input volume on the radio turned down, it is no longer there.
