E90 335I ZF transmission Fluid
Hi, I was wondering if this transmission fluid will work? Valvoline multi import? Anybody have any experience? I know mercon sp will work, but I don't have any oreillys by me. Closest one is 100 miles away.

BMW LT 71141, ETL-7045E and M-1375.4 applications Currently I am using Castrol Multi-import without any problems.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

AMSOIL
AMSOIL now makes fluid that is compatible for BMWs. I have changed out my filter/pan and refilled it with Ams. Car works perfect.

A less expensive but still good option is jugs of Valvoline Maxlife ATF from Walmart. It also lists LT71141 specifically on the label and is easy to get. If you DIY and change it often, this might be a better value than Amsoil which is expensive (but pretty much the best). Doing a pan drop, filter change and switch from genuine dealer LT71141 to Amsoil ATF solved all kinds of weird transmission behaviour in my dad's E39 540 that it had since new. |
