Anyone know the process to remove the steering wheel trim piece?

As title states. Im tempted to pry it off as it doesnt look to be really secured by any thing but snap tabs, but just want to be sure before I attempt it.

You have to unscrew volume/cruise control buttons from behind and pull the trim carefully. You should unplug airbag than it will be easier but unpluging the airbag is dificult

how to remove airbag:

Where did you get this m piece... looking to get one. Also if you have paddle shifters... does it make it harder to remove the volume/cruise modules.

I bought the OEM M Sport trim piece from my local BMW dealer (Part # 32337841892). I have paddle shifters and the screws in the above video are covered up, so I didn't even attempt to take them off. I did this using a small door panel pry tool. You have to start from the bottom of the steering wheel and work your way up to the top sides. There's no screws, just rubber inserts where the back of the new trim piece fit into. It was challenging without removing the airbag, but the plastic pieces are very forgiving and flexible. I had to very slightly bend a few of the plastic pins in the trim piece to go right into the rubber steering wheel backing.

Apparently they are going for about $160. That's pretty hefty for a piece of plastic.
