Over 100k on the 328i, what's next?

I recently passed 100k miles on my 2007 328i, here's hoping for 150k! The car was always taken care of at the dealership, but a few months ago the maintenance and CPO ran out. And now...the dealership is now off the list. They quoted me $1k for a spark plug and rear brake job, I got it done from a local guy who does my other vehicles for $600. Eh...not bad. No time for me to do it on my own, nor do I want to F with it.

Anyways, assuming the car is current on everything...what's in the near future now that I have crossed the 100k mile threshold? Anyone else in that boat?

You can do both jobs under 100 bucks yourself. A shop will charge under 250.00 for both jobs. You got ripped off.

Drive it for another 100K and do the required maintenance when it comes up. (And the water pump)

But seriously, the coolant and driveline fluids all get changed at 100,000. Brake fluid on two year intervals from the date of manufacture.

I priced all the parts out at around $300 from sponsors on this forum, add to that the labor involved at a shop at around $100 an hour and I don't feel ripped off. You could build your own house (by yourself, hiring no help) for a fraction of the cost that it took for a construction company to do so...did you do that as well?

And considering just the rotors for my car are $140 (not including pads and a sensor) I seriously doubt your estimate of "under 100 bucks."

you might consider power steering fluid.
