Active Steering Malfunction after a hit

Hi Folks,
I need your help. My friend banged my car against a pillar in the parking while backing up. I was in the passenger seat. Outside damage isnt that bad but it's spitting out "Active Steering Malfunction". My steering wheel now turns all the way around and has no resistance left in it.
I had to catch a flight so I couldnt drop it off at the dealer/Indy. Just wondering if anyone knows how big of a damage this is? Estimate only.. I hope I dont have to sell an arm and leg.

Update: Posted the issue in post # 5.

Weird... maybe a bolt fell from the steering column or something?

steering angle sensor is probably way off and therefor shut off active steering. id get an alignment at the dealer which should reset the sensor and go for there if there are no obvious damaged parts.

so I took the car to an Indy. The left tie rod got bent which made all sensors to go crazy.
They replaced a new tie rod for 143 and did a wheel alignment.
