Exclamation Warning: Thief!

Hi guys,

Just to warn you. I have been contacted by a buyer from Gumtree about my tyres - almost new Contis SC5, worth over 350 quid!
The guy came over to collect it with a "cab driver" who quickly grabbed the tyres to put them in his car and left the buyer with me to sort out money.

Then the guy asked if I could write him a "receipt" in case the tyres will be faulty and he decides to return them.

Since he was complaning about his twisted ankle, limping and all that drama, I told him to have a sit on a bench in my garden whilei get piece of paper to write him... a "receipt".

So, silly, silly me... went inside, got a piece of paper, pen, went outside just to find an empty bench. Both of them fucked off in a hurry and not even a twisted ankle was able to slow them down, lol!

I called them but instead of him, some woman answered the phone abviously claiming it's a wrong number. Blah blah blah...

anyway, just so you know guys... a pair of contis sport contact 5 255 35 18 94y xl. with almost 8mm of tread.

and their number finishes with: 02739.

I'm not really pissed off about the loss of cash, just sad that lowlifes need to steal used tyres to make a living.

Sorry to hear this mate, what pathetic people! Seriously. Some people need to grow up and get a job! Make a living and earn. Stealing tyres?!

At least no 1 was harmed in this pallava mate, could have been worse.

This makes me furious, sorry to hear your encounter once again mate.

Hope you find them and recoupe your money.

I went to a Police station, spoke to someone but the hassle I'd potentially have to go through if they find them is not worth it. The number is most likely a pre paid so I have been told the police wont be able to do much. I have a CCTV outside my home so they could go through this and then send out the images to various stations, hoping someone will recognise the thiefs. Then I'd have to go through hearings and other endless bullshit.
The best i could get out of it is getting my tyres back (if i can prove they are mine, lol!)

I believe one day they wont be able to run fast enough... and even slower after someone will catch them;-)

I get what your saying, even if the police catch them. They will probably only get a slap on the wrist, suspended sentence from the courts and released same day to carry on their criminal antics So this taken into consideration its probably not worth all the hassle.

I knew the police wouldn't do much and thats actually a brilliant idea, do it in a way that you get different tyres, put it in a similar location to yours (so you know its them) wait for them to turn up and have a few friends ready and the police on speed dial, get them arrested, job done.

That way you can get them to make sure you get your old ones back atleast (cant sell them this quick surely)

Catch them, slap on the wrist, then thieves probably knew it was you that reported, come back to your house, do something worse. Not worth it. F* it, it's just tires.

Same way I look at it someone cutting in the line in front of me for groceries holding a baby. Not worth it too bitch about it. Cut in front of me and I hope you get your car gets towed.

Dude, sorry that happened to you but you could've prevented this if you had taken some simple precautions. Never give up possession of what you are selling without the cash. Why would you let them load the tires before you got the cash? You trust people too much...

Also don't let them meet you at your house. I think you should be grateful they did not ask to use your restroom, make a phone call, have a glass of water, rape your wife, ect...

Mate, go through the police. I know it's a hassle etc but if you do nothing, you might as well have invited them round to take them away for free.

What little justice we get in this country gets completely undermined if people don't report things, testify, fight back etc! Even if it meant I had to rag myself silly just to see these fuckers dragged through the courts, I'd do it. Don't let them get away with it because you can't be arsed! Ok they might just get a warning, they might get a slap on the wrist but them when they do it five more times and they are up in front of the judge, they might just go down. If you don't follow it up and neither does the next person or the next, nothing will ever happen!

Grrrr!! Fking hate scum like this. Don't be a vigilante, get the people who are there to chase them to chase them.

Do you have the vrm of the 'cab' from your CCTV? Plod can track payg phones as easily as contract, just that theres potentially no billing data.

Your right, but him being trusting should not be made out to be part of the reason he got robbed. He got robbed because some people just are thieving little scum.

I remember last year when i left my front door unlocked(even though i usually allways check before i hit the sack) and some scumbag walks in and takes a laptop and tv. I mention it to someone at work and his reply was "Well you shouldn't have left the front door open" No,no,no forgive me for maybe being slightly naive, but leaving my front door open in my head does not translate to a big sign on the front of my house saying "Rob my house you thieving scumbags, the doors open" Just like lowkick didn't ask for some scum to come rob him, all blame lies with the thief and not the victim in these circumtances.

I'm not having ago, just saying, as alot of the time people try to turn it around onto the victim like its their fault. We all know we could do things differently in hindsight but its doesn't excuse the things some people do to others.

I like the idea but not sure about police.
Just catch them and make sure you have some boys around. I'll self invite myself too. Hassle free option and they will learn too!

Doesnt your CCTV show the registration of the taxi?

I'm sure a cab driver would remember loading some tyres and where they were "delivered" to.

CCTV is local authority, not private. So the chance is, it was "looking" into completely different direction. If I decide to report it with Police they send request to the council to release cctv footage etc. As for the "cab driver", he was obviously part of the whole scam. One is carrying tyres as a friendly cab driver, the other one is stumbling behind with his bad ankle to give the driver more time. Then they get attention of the seller to something else and run away. I have to say though, that was very brave of them.

Yeah, I guess you can look at trusting people as a dangerous thing these days.
I know where you coming from. Do I like it? nope.
