New 330i owner
Hello all,
I am getting my new car delivered on Wednesday: 330i M Sport Saloon - 06 plate. Really looking forward to it! I have a question about the BHP. There seem to be two E90 versions of the 330i: 254BHP and 272BHP. I have not been able to find out which versions are in which cars. Mine was registered June 2006 - any ideas which it is likely to be? Thanks. |

Why a three month delay?

Hi and welcome
June 2006 in an E90 will be the old fashoined engine with 258hp. The 272hp is the direct injection engine that is only just hitting E90/91 production now.

isnt the new engine not as 'vocal' as the older slightly less powered version, if so get it remapped and have the best of both worlds

Cool, very low mileage! what is the spec on it.
Mine is relatively basic spec, but it was all I could afford, though 2k more would have got i-drive, heated seats and prob nothing else of any use. |

That's certainly my experience - the newer engine seemed a lot quieter to me The newer unit obviously has a bit more power and much better officia economy figures though

Carlos a remap would get you very near 272 from a mid to high 250bhp base, that was only my point, i was not suggesting more just the same and a better noise

Here's a useful list of BMW engines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_BMW_engines Yours is the N52B30 There have since been 2 engine changes ... a 272 hp version of the engine in your car (initially seen in the X3 and Z3 3.0si models, then the coupe). And now I believe a new direct injection engine has been introduced, initally in the convertible's .. the N53 ... also with 272 hp |

Ah, gotcha. Why the fifteen month delay? BTW, No need to answer that.

Got the motor today .... superb. With only 5K on the clock it is as good as new. Mmmm, smell the leather, and the engine sounds ace.
Acceleration is smooth, so much different to my last car (Audi S3) which gave an almighty turbo-powered thrust from 2-4,000 revs. The 330 pulls less agressively but it's constant through the rev range. Will post photos as soon as I get chance. |
