Plasti dipped stock rims

Finally gave into the plasti dip craze and decided to do my rims. The stuff is amazingly simple to use and nearly impossible to screw up. First time painting and the black is forgiving for inexperienced spraying. If you mess up, just spray over it or peel it off and do it all over. It's been drying for 6 hours now and the finish looks and feels much better than I expected. It even covered up some curb rash pretty well.

looks good dude, did the same thing a couple months ago and its keeping up pretty well.
i'll have to redo one of my wheels tho, since it was too cold and it threw some fugly bubbles, but apart from that its really easy to use. Just try to keep it at a somewhat warm temp.

Thanks! I might go for a gunmetal color next if it starts peeling or whatnot.

Did you bubbles show up during painting? or appeared later during colder weather?

looks good, seems like is lightly sprayed inside the lug bolt holes. You always wanna doa good 3-5 even coats so it comes off easily.

not really feeling those specific wheels but i loved my plasti dipped 189s

Not to be a jerk, but that last picture makes the job look really poorly done. It looks like you didn't remove the tape correctly and pulled off some of the plastidip. You should have used a razor blade or something similar to avoid it peeling like that.

I plastidipped the wheels on my M45 about 2 years ago. It's cool at first, but in the end you're doing a ghetto mod to a nice car. It looked better stock.

I think thats his curb rash?? I could be wrong though. Doesn't look bad. I have done this to my wheels before as well.

Might be ghetto but it looks good, no one will be the wiser unless they try to peel it off. Matches the tint well good job!

Yep, that's the curb rash. Doesn't look good by any means but is a little better with the dip covering it. Plus my painting skills need work..

20$ for all 4 wheels painted semi-permanently removable anytime, can't complain. Also great for people that want to test out a certain wheel color without buying a new set of rims.

The finish feels more solid after almost 24 hr drying now.

I saw this too. I thought he did a bad job doing the cover-up or just screwed it up. If you can fix that, it would look sooo much better. It looks like a bad job from the angle of that picture. Otherwise, good even coating.

yea, the actual spray can was sitting in the garage and I didnt think of letting it warm up first.. it had like 40F outside, and then when i sprayed the wheel, it already threw some bubbles but i thought id be able to correct it with the 3rd and 4th coat. guess not
I wanna try a different color as well, but I don't know what fits silver the best.
