Opti-Coat vs CQuartz
Like many of you, i'm waiting for delivery of my 335xi m sport and paint protection is one of my main focus areas next to mods. I've been searching all over for good reviews of Opti-Coat and CQuartz as they seem to both be recommended by all here.
Anyway, long story short: I found this review and if your like me and considering one of these products, it's worth your time to take a look. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...0-cquartz.html |

Ya, that was a great read back in the day. I enjoyed looking at it again actually. Keep in mind, that post is original cquartz, not cquartz finest (which is what is being used now, an upgraded version).

Cquartz Finest is only provided to authorized detailers, not for the general public. The main difference between the regular Cquartz and Finest is curing time, which allows for faster curing times so that professionals can finish coatings in a faster time. Although I do believe you are right about the formulation changed for Cquartz.

Got my car detailed with Cquartz Finest. Car looks extremely glossy in a good way.
My concern is it rained the next day and left the car outside. Will this affect how long it lasts? There are certain parts on the rear of the car, it doesn't seem to bead as well as the other parts. And the rain left a residue on it. Does that mean my detailer might have missed that spot?

Your car was probably dirty. When the car is dirty it won't bead like when it is clean. Think of it like a teflon pan, if it's clean it is non stick, if it is dirty stuff will stick to it. When dirt is on the car the water is sitting on it, not the coating. I find if my car gets really dirty it wont bead much until I wash it then it beads like crazy again.
I had CQF done on my car back in April. I have opti coat on my other car, the cquartz car stays much cleaner. We're both in the gta so maybe the same guy did it, I think there are only two who are authorized. The guy I used cured with IR lamps so rain the next day wasn't an issue (it rained on me too!)...you're probably fine. Ask him if he used ir lamps to cure maybe? |
