On the BMW accessories website page it mentions a phone holder basic. Does that mean that there is a phone holder standard or advanced. i have seen written on some other forums that you can get a fan cooled phone holder.

Yes, the media one is the advanced one needed to use your iPhone for music/videos/apps. The basic one is phone only I believe.

The latest media adapter should have the fan (mine has). I think the one without was the older unit.

Yeah I've got the Media Adapter for my iPhone 4s, which has a fan.

Plus full functionality with music and err.. media, it also adds PlugIn to the ConnectedDrive menu which is your familiar Apple layout and functionality crossed with your familiar BMW graphics and functionality!

I'm trying to upload a picture of the Media Cradle for you but they've changed the settings and pictures are too high quality

"The Dimension limits for this filetype are 1600 x 1600. We were unable to resize your file so you will need to do so manually and upload it again. Your file is currently 4976 x 2800."

Presumably only adding plug-in if you have the infamous BMW Apps option (which i'm sure I can get as a software add-on as i've all the necessary hardware other than that).

VERY confusing the online suite and various options!

Above is for iPhone 4/4S only.

iPhone 5 cradle comes in Media option only, yet doesn't do video.....confusing? Well yes it is.

and costs almost as much as the phone!

knowing BMW, they will probably release the Media Pro Adapter which does video

Just found on another part of the forum the iphone 5 Snap in Adapter is in fact a Prototype and simply has the apple 30pin to lightning adapter - WTF BMW!!! And they charge through the nose for this!

Allegedly the proper version will be released in July 2013...
