Sorry if this is old news, but I just looked closely at the E92 M3 specs in the German press release, and discovered the rear tires are larger in diameter than the fronts.

Tyres, front/rear 245/40 ZR18 / 265/40 ZR18
Rims, front/rear 8.5J x 18 EH2+ IS 29 aluminium, forged/9.5J x 18 EH2+ IS 23 aluminium, forged

According to my calculations, since the aspect ratio is same front and rear, the rears are .40 x 20 mm x 2 = 16 mm ( 5/8") larger in diameter. This is confirmed by Michelin specs which show .60" difference (809 vs. 790 rpm) Anyone else notice this?

What, what? The E46 M3 used 225/40/18 fronts and 255/35 rears (subtract .05 aspect ratio for 19s). That results in front and rear tires of about the same diameter. If the specs are true for the E92 version, the rears are larger in diameter. This does not mean anything in particular, it's just a departure that I don't know has been previously recognized. If the diff ratio is lower (which it is at 3.846), the larger tires are offset to some degree in overall drive ratio.

i was noticing the same thing. why are the rear wheel rolling diameters larger than the front wheels? Will that have any negative effects?
