New Arkapovic Installed by iND

Just wanted to share my new install.

I have still less than 300 miles on my 2013 m5 - I have several exchanges with Nate at iND about the various exhaust options.

I previously had the Dinan system on my e60 - which I really liked. It really had a nice metallic sound when ripping through the band. I then had the BMW Performance exhaust (Iconel ?), on my e90. The exhaust noise on that was also simply amazing, the blips on the downshifts, would ALWAYS bring a smile to my face, no matter how bad the day was, that car would bring a smile to my face, or ears!

While it is certainly true I have not placed enough miles on my car to truly give an appropriate, honest evaluation of the stock exhaust, I felt I could do with a bit more "sound." My answer, the guys at iND. I am sure there are plenty of fine shops out there, & again, I am just lucky enough to be within driving distance of their shop.

After receiving much valuable information from Nate, I placed an order for the Akrapovic exhaust with carbon tips.

I arrived today for the install, and was quite nervous if I had made the right decision. There was a car in the shop with the Eisenmann Race setup, with an additional center section (?). The sound was amazing! It was enough to grow more hair on your chest! However, it was not exactly what I was looking for. I was also able to see the GruppeM intake. If you are looking for pure visual sex, have a close look at that - simply stunning!

I watched them carefully remove the Akra from its box. As many of you here, and Nate will tell you, the attention to detail, and quality blew me away.

I watched them install the system with ease. A few adjustments were made, the car was lowered from the jack, and then it was done.

I was still nervous after spending this amount of money on a product I had not yet heard in person.

The minute the car was started, I knew I had made the right decision. If you are looking for a booming, thunderous roar, this is not the exhaust for you. It was brilliant, it somehow still sounded like my car, but not quite. It is so very sophisticated. On the drive home, still keeping below 4k on the shifts, I was beyond certain I made a good decision. The noise is certainly there, exotic to a point, - it is hard to describe. I listened to all the clips I could find online - yet still, it is hard to know unless you hear it in person. I know for some, it will not be enough, for me it is perfect!

The closest thing I could compare it to is the BMW Performance exhaust in the e90 m3.

The attention to detail from this exhaust is incredible - just looking at the welds in the titanium, my god it is something.

I must finally add a big word of thanks. I first went to iND last week, and they installed a BMW performance spoiler, painted front reflectors, grills, and the RKP lip. I had such a positive experience with these guys, by the time I was done, a deposit was placed and the exhaust was ordered. One week later, it is installed. It speaks volumes, for me, to quickly spend time, trust, and money with any company. I cannot say enough positive things about those guys at iND! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

It was this board who turned me on to them - for those in the past who posted their positive dealings with iND - thank you as well.

I know everyone will want pics - I know they took a bunch - mine will usually look crappy, blurry, and probably won't give much what people are looking for.

Hopefully Nate will read this & throw a couple in for viewing.

Is the Akrapovic expensive, yes. Is the build quality top notch, yes. Is it what I would have liked from a stock M exhaust, yes. Visually it is as beautiful as it sounds.

Is it worth every penny? - For me a definite yes.

Thanks again iND - you guys are truly top notch! I look forward to the next mod!

That's the exact sound I'm missing so much with my E92! Arrgghhhh, how do I talk myself into spending $9K on an exhaust?!?

Congrats!

Hi nv - lol - I TOTALLY know how you feel - I think I watched the BMW m5 GP MOTO safety car video about 50x - & still I wasn't sure.

There is no question it is a bunch of money - I can't remember what I paid for my Dinan exhaust - maybe $3500???? I also think it was one that required the existing exhaust to be cut & the Dinan section welded on. That really meant, once the car was traded in - that's money you will never recoup, at least I never do.

The BMW Perf one cost me, I think around the same price @3500 (but I could be wrong) - again I thought that was a lot of money for an exhaust - and when that car was traded in - the whole exhaust went with the car, and they really don't give you much for that.

The Akrapovic is a bolt on system. It replaces everything. So you get to retain your original exhaust system. I suppose, when you go to trade in, or sell your car, just replace with the original stock exhaust, and sell the Akrapovic to a private party. I don't know what that market is like. I have been lead to believe that these come up on the used market rarely, & when they do, people want them. I am certainly no expert on that, but it is what I have been lead to believe.

Actually, the worst part is not the cost - it's trying to figure out how to store the stock exhaust! The damn thing is HUGE! LOL - I'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine!

I think the shark in Jaws is smaller than this whole exhaust!

I can just say this - when you see it in the box. When you lift the light Titanium pieces, look at the quality of the welds, and see the carbon tips that fit over a Titanium sleeve - you will NOT be disappointed!

As of now, it's the best money I have spent on a mod - IMHO

The guys at iND know what they are doing and know the products well. I'm lucky enough to live close enough for a visit to their shop/warehouse. Everything about iND is quality, professional and true car enthusiast. I've purchased several products with the latest being full Eisenmann Sport "Black Series" with non-resonated x-pipe centers. I couldn't be a happier customer.

It really is a neat color. At times, it appears dark grey, other times I see greens or blues, and after a couple of Jamesons, I swear I bought a Jerez Black!

Nonetheless, I am really loving the color - debating on the paint protection on the front section. I do have some worries about lines showing & possible discoloring over time.
