Matt is the one who has waited longest!

If they are anything like me they'll be driving rather than taking picks and posting...don't think I came on forums (other than a bit of time at work) for about a week when I got mine!

C'mon matt....we are waiting to see pics!

She's here!

A couple of quick pics of the new family fleet

Not completely without incident. Arrived to see the car up on the ramps with a wheel off as they had spotted a scuff and were changing it for a new one.

Then during handover there was a bit of a mark on the dash. They tried to clean it off, but there was still a slight mark. So I should have the new trim fitted next week.

Just got to get used to the iDrive and Nav now! 6FL works great with a USB stick and the voice control is cool.

More pics when I've detailed it.

That end of the carpark is going to look very nice!

You should have voice entry of destinations, without having to enter names letter-by-letter.
Just click the button & say 'address input' -> 'city' -> etc

Oh, & as others have said previously, wait for the icon to appear (bottom left) after the tone, before you start speaking.

There's also the shortcuts which will save you some time- just hold onto one of the 4 directions for a couple of seconds, to go to the last menu you visited in that part of the idrive.

If you've got a compatible bluetooth mobile, try calling someone from your phonebook- click the button & say 'Call Viv' & it should dial me, perhaps!

All the best.

Viv

Congrats matt. Looks great. What made you switch to a tourer (from saloon)?

Did you go for Prof Hifi in the end ? I can't remember.

Cheers folks!

I have been playing with the vioce control... it's just too damn cool a toy not to show off with. The "options" will be the most used for a bit I think.

Haven't tried the voice dialling yet like you describe Viv, and I've only got as far as getting a couple of the shotcuts set.

The best thing of all though....................has to be the six cylinder engine.

Soooo smooth and refined compared to the four-pot I had before.
The four cylinder is still a cracking engine as diesels go, and my Sister's 118d shows just how far they have come in the last fours years. Smoother quieter and more refined than my old E46 320d, but just doesn't sing like a six

Personally I prefer the styling of the touring to the saloon (ducks). Plus there were a couple of times that the E46 was a bit difficult due to the loading aperture size (It had the through load, but the depth of opening was a bit small).

I went for the HiFi in the end and not the full Logic7. So far seems brilliant, and the sound quality with wma files through a flash memory stick in the 6FL is impressive enough for me.

Excellent. Can someone remind me where the torch is exactly? I'm gutted as I don't think mine has one, I picked it up in May/June time - I'm sure it should?!

The wife's Cooper S is a cracker. I can't wait till we can use all the revs. I can see her "borrowing" my e93 a bit more in the near future

That harvester looks like the one near bicester village, you didn't buy them from North Oxford garages by any chance?!

Nice looking car Matt. I feel like you on the engine front and will probably go for a 6-pot next time around.

You're about 50 miles too far east with that guess.

Nah, just handy as being within a couple of miles of the dealer to stop for a bite to eat after handover and have another crawl around the car.

You won't regret it. The BMW diesel is the pick of the four cylinder diesels, but the six is still sooo much smoother.
