2007 328xi wheel setup

So im sure its on here, but im new to this..

Recently i purchased a 328xi and it has some ugly aftermarket cheap black rims on it. Im replacing them with a set of staggered OEM 162's.

These wheels will not be an issue correct?? im confused by all this rolling diameter stuff that i have been reading about. Thanks to anyone who helps!!

Yes, you can run those wheels. For tires you could run the same size tires at all four corners, but you'll get a stretched looked on the wider wheel. However, on a staggered wheel setup most will run different tire sizes on the front compared to the back. If you go that route you have to make sure the rolling diameter of the front tires are the same as the rear tires. Tirerack shows the revolutions per miles for each tire. Some will say you can have a 1% variance front to back, but I would recommend a difference of 3 revs per mile or less difference front to back just to be safe and keep the xi/x-drive system happy.

So what size tires would be appropriate for this staggered setup using the 162's?

255/35/18 for the rear and 225/40/18 for the front works for me

For the OP and the "rolling diameter stuff" confusion - as mentioned above, it is important on an X-Drive to keep the front and back tire diameters within 1% or your system will have a freak-out.

The suggested sizes here give you:
Code:
.	 Tire 1		Tire 2
Size	 225/40-18	255/35-18
Section  225 mm (8.9")	255 mm (10")
Sidewall  90 mm (3.5")	 89 mm (3.5")
Diameter 637 mm (25.1") 635 mm (25")
  ==>	   		  2 mm (0.24%) shorter.
Revs/Mile 804.6	 	807.1
  ==>	  2.5 less
courtesy of: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

So, 0.24% < 1% = Good To Go
And, 2.5 revolutions per mile < 3 revs per mile (I've heard as many as 4 is ok) = Also good to go.

Call Gary.
Order Tires.

in the 225/40-255/35 size, i cant even find a set that have a difference in revolutions per mile less than 3. everything is from 8 to even 14 or more!

do i have to get different tire brands?
