Thinking about painting my car...
Like the title says, I'm thinking about trashing the space gray, and going with my favorite color ever.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows a good body shop in the Bay Area, or some good advice as to how I should approach the car painting process. Anything thing I should watch out for, or even what should it cost? P.s. Im aware it does decrease the value of the car, I honestly don't care since I'm still not too fond of the space gray

A good paint job is going to cost thousands. It's all in the prep work.
Properly done (inside doorwells, in the engine bay, etc.) the prepper will have to disassemble lots of the car to paint everything. Then, as you mentioned, is the inevitable "So this car's been repainted? What kind of accident was it?" questions you'll have to answer when you sell it. I'd say it could be cheaper to sell your car and buy another in the color you like....

It will cost probably 3 to 5 grand depending on the quality of the job, that's just an estimate. You may want to consider selling and buying the color you want.

Well what color is your "favorite" color, because that would change whether or not you can just buy it in the "right" color.
Assuming you want something exotic, you may want to consider wrapping it. A proper paint job will cost a lot more and take a lot longer. And even if you aren't really worried about decreasing the value, it may make it impossible to sell later - whereas a wrap can be removed, with the added benefit of protecting the original paint.

There's:
Williams Autobody San Mateo 5Fithteen Autobody Burlingame International Autobody South SF Sunny Autobody SF (My personal favorite) A full repaint can run you anywhere from $3500-$7000 depending on what you want done. What you need to make sure is they will remove all the windows including windshield, trims, door handles, moldings, bumpers, headlights, taillights before painting. Make sure they'll paint your door jams, door shell and trunk area too but I'm sure they won't touch your engine bay but you can at least ask them to paint under your hood that way it won't look too obvious that you got a repaint. Also you need to keep in mind that the cars value will depreciate a bit more with a aftermarket paint job that is if you'll ever trade in your car to a dealership. |

i'd consider having it wrapped in vinyl
or... plasti-dip... it's reversible, cheap(er), and easier

Highly unlikely.
If you have a very specific color in mind, maybe it doesn't come in vinyl, but I guarantee you that you will be able to find something that is 99% the same. Properly painting a car will cost thousands ($5000+) if you want to do it the right way. Not only will you not get that back, but you will lose money when it comes time to sell your car. |

Wherever you decide to go, make sure the person will do it properly or you'll ruin the car... some cheap body shops will paint it but it'll peel after a year, so just get it done right

The vinyl wrap is like it say teal not laguna, the texture is different and the look of it is different. I want the exact color, OEM PAINT, I will not pay $2000 for a wrap job that is a shade off.

Dip your car is not a wrap job, it is a spray on rubber paint which can peal off whenever you are done with the car and would like to sell. The tint kit does not have to be teal. It is a set of white and different blue colors which can be used by the pros to match whatever you like. If you watch the video the man uses the tint kits to show how different colors are made. As a result you would not be spraying your car with teal but rather would color match exactly what you want (resulting in a 400 dollar job with exactly what you want). This video for example uses a matte finish, but they also offer different glorifiers which can give you a clear coat.
