Query re Tyres Etc
I have a 335D M Sport on order, due sometime in Sept and I'm seeking some guidance mainly on the 19" wheel/tyre option I specified.
1.What tool is required to take off the valve caps? 2.When testing the pressure of the tyres, are they: A:Best tested cold or hot? Boes the car need to be on level ground when tested? Coes the air going into the tyre need to be cold or tepid? 3.When replacing the caps, what torque do the valves need cranking up to? Please note that the car is diesel, are there differing answers if the car is petrol fuelled/got 17"/18" tyres? P.S. I have not got the manual yet, as the car's not been built. |

The tyres should be at a minimum of 1000 Kelvin before you take a reading and the car should ideally be suspended in mid air (I use a small hi-ab crane from my flat bed lorry). The replacement air should be warmed in the mouths of a beautiful filipino masseuse and should be at exactly the same temperature as your wee. When replacing the caps use a powerdrill set to 4,000,000 torques |

1.What tool is required to take off the valve caps? Any from your toolbox
2.When testing the pressure of the tyres, are they: A:Best tested cold or hot? Room temperature Boes the car need to be on level ground when tested? A 12% incline for best results Coes the air going into the tyre need to be cold or tepid? luke warm 3.When replacing the caps, what torque do the valves need cranking up to? Think of a number... any number Come on its bank holiday!! |

He's still trying to find a manual reader. It's like it's in code for him.

Since the others are 'playing', I'm going to join them, if that's ok!
I have a 335D M Sport on order, due sometime in Sept and I'm seeking some guidance mainly on the 19" wheel/tyre option I specified. 1.What tool is required to take off the valve caps? Any of these will suffice: or or or 2.When testing the pressure of the tyres, are they: A:Best tested cold or hot? In rough terms, round about this temperature, give or take a couple of kelvin: Boes the car need to be on level ground when tested? In relative terms, at this angle +- 5%: Coes the air going into the tyre need to be cold or tepid? A difficult question, I must admit, but here's your answer: 3.When replacing the caps, what torque do the valves need cranking up to? There's been a lot of discussion about this one, but current consensus seems to suggest the following: Please note that the car is diesel, are there differing answers if the car is petrol fuelled/got 17"/18" tyres? Yes. If the car is not petrol-fuelled, any answers you get from petrol car owners will be wholely inconclusive. If you have 17" alloys, try getting bigger wheels: Viv |
