Does anyone have the name of a dyno shop in Phoenix they have used in the past?

Thx!

Evolution Motorsports, Vivid Racing (They have an AA tuned 335i), DynoComp and I think there's one more in the area.

I have used:
Locash Racing (2853 South 44th St. Suite 102, Phoenix, AZ 85040 602-763-5189) and UMS Tuning / Exact Dyno (1206 N. Miller Rd., Tempe, AZ 85281 480-446-TUNE) in the past. Both are great operations. Both use a Dynapack.

Vivid uses a Mustang dyno (reads a bit lower than Dynojet or Dynapack). I can't remember what kind DynoComp has.
Both of those shops would be a good choice as well.

Thanks you guys. I'll call around and see who can get me in next week.
Any idea what I should expect for a cost on the dyno run?

if you're just getting baseline numbers (usually 3 pulls, takes about 30 minutes), then its about $60-$80. If you have an EMU that needs tuning (read: multiple hours) then it really varies depending on which shop does it. If you're having tuning performed then I would highly recommend Vivid.

Why do you want to go all the way to Phoenix? your signature shows Tucson, there are two dynos in Tucson:

Tucson

Addictive racing(Dynojet), they are in Speedway
IAperformance(Mustang Dyno) they are in Ina Road

As far is Phoenix

Vividracing(Mustang Dyno)
AZdynochip(Dynojet)
Mynes Performance(Mustang Dyno)
Dynocomp(dyno Dynamic)

I have been in all of them except the one at Mynes performance.

Thanks, that sounds good. I will probably take advantage of this since it's really close to me.

Last I heard, Vivid doesn't do 335i's anymore....I'm not too sure about Dynocomp....If you look at their site, they say they can reprogram the ECU for the 335i...I emailed them about that a few months ago and didn't get a reply, I then called and spoke to someone about upgrading my ECU and they said they'd have to get back to me....That was mid-September and still nothing....

In my case I am just looking to see what the car is putting down right now. The Dynocomp dyno day looks like the best option right now...

I was just there getting my car lowered, and they can do the ECU upgrade, but they only recommend doing stage 1. They said they have done a handful of 335i's and that the flash works very well. Since they just offer stage 1, if I were you, I would just go with the Turbo Tuner, or JB2.

I'll be there at the door at 9am. I'll have a 50-50 mix of 100octane & 91octane which should put me at 95 octane, just for a little extra insurance I don't throw a code or anything during the pulls...

Also, the next Friday Night Drags at Firebird Raceway is on November 30th which I will be at; hopefully we can get some forum members out there.

Not sure if anyone is going to read this in time to help, but I am still unsure of the proper technique to dyno properly.

Almost every post I have read says to dyno in 4th gear. My question is, how do you keep a 6AT car in 4th gear when it will downshift if you floor it.

THanks in advance!

You just put the auto in manual mode ... use the paddles, or shifter.

Thanks! I'm also having trouble figuring out how they're going to get a tach pickup without me having to remove the microfilter, tray, etc. to get to the rear screws on the engine cover.

There has to be an easier way. Everyone who dyno's their car can't be going through that hassle are they?

I assume you've had your car run at Dynocomp. What's their procedure for getting a tach pickup on your car?

Did you go to get the dyno done today?? I think I was the only 335i there. It was a fun day for all ... once I get all my other mods on, I will post a dyno chart. I will say, that with the Supersprint exhaust and a SSTT, I had a gain of over 60whp.

I'm planning on going to Firebird on the 30th. Anyone know if we need a fire jacket since the car MIGHT run sub 14 seconds? Also, I have a Snell helmet for autocrossing, does it need to be close faced for drag racing (i've never been before)?

this is from their site:

As of February 1, 2006 all vehicles with an aftermarket power adder, (nitrous, turbocharger, or supercharger) running faster than 13.99 will be required to wear an SFI approved fire jacket

http://www.firebirdraceway.com/06web/streetdrags.html

thanks!

No, that means if you have an aftermarket power adder on your car which runs 13.99 or faster, you have to have a fire jacket. This doesn't apply to factory turbo/supercharger etc... You don't need a fire jacket.

If you keep reading down to the motorcycle section, those guys are required to have a full-face helmet. That's not a requirement for cars. Your helmet has to have a Snell 2000 rating or above and have the label intact & legible inside the helmet. Mine says SA2000 inside. If you're autocrossing at Firebird, your helmet should be fine but make sure you have the Snell 2000 rating on the sticker.

I will be there on the 30th also, with my PROcede V2....
