Two questions about E92?
1. When I first open the door of my e92 I hear an electronic buzzing coming from what sounds like behind the stereo interface for a second or two.
I don't remember hearing that on my e90 335i but hear it on my e92. I have CA on my e92, but did not on my e90. What's that buzzing? 2. The other night while driving down a dark road, I noticed on my e92 that I have orange "glow" lights that line both doors just below the window sills but above the door handle. I also don't remember seeing that on my e90. Looks nice...is this on all models or just the e92? Thanks |

#1 - Do you have iDrive? If so, it could well be the iDrive computer spinning up the DVD and starting up.

1) with comfort access your car starts to "boot" itself up before you even get there when it senses your fob in the vicinity, which is the sound you're hearing.
2) the ambient orange lighting you're referring is actually all over the car, not just under the sills. it's very under-the-radar isn't it?

that noise u hear is the actual window itself, it lowers a quick mm before u open the door, and then rises a quick mm after u shut the door.

Don't the e93's have the same ambient lighting as the e92's do in the door??
The e90s do not have it in the doors it is just overhead, Not sure what is in the back seat as I'm never back their.

#1) I would love to know that answer too (but I'm pretty sure like someone already said its the idrive, etc. starting up as you approach/unlock with CA).
#2) I love the "theater lighting" as my wife calls it. It looks bad ass.

I don't remember hearing that on my e90 335i but hear it on my e92. I have CA on my e92, but did not on my e90. What's that buzzing? That's the servo motors on the climate control adjusting the vents. When the car is "asleep" the outside vents move to the default positions. (Outside vents "open" and inside vents directed to the windshield. Maybe it's just me, but I like the sound. I have very sensitive hearing and find the sound kind of soothing like soft music. |

#1 I have noticed as well. Particularly when washing of detailing car as I'm in and out of it and my doors may get locked/unlocked frequently. NOt sur ewhat it is. Thought maybe the seat adjustment for the particular remote. Definitely not iDrive as I didn't get that feature and I have this sound as well. |

Thanks for the responses.
No I don't have I-drive, so it's not that. I think it's probably as one person said a Comfort Access thing. Once you open the door and get in the car recognizes the key in there and begins it's process. And as one poster said, part of that process is probably adjusting the A/C vents. Good, I'm glad I'm not losing it, I didn't think the e90 had the ambient lighting on the doors and so forth. Thanks for clueing me in. |

Actually, its once you unlock the car, whether its by reaching for the handle or clicking the fob. It wont do anything just because you are in the vicinity.
