Got rear ended in a 640i and BMW part takes 3 Months to ship
I got rear ended in a 640i convertible.
The electronic parts at the rear of the car require 3 months to deliver. They apparently need to deliver the part from Germany. And the new 6 series has all of the sensitive electronics at the rear end of the vehicle. The car that rear ended me went underneath my car. I can't drive the car for 3 months! Does BMW compensate for this lost time while they are shipping parts? Did anyone else have this problem? |

3 months seems a bit extensive, even if they had to manufacture it and then ship by cargo ship it seems it would be quicker than that. I think the insurance of the guy that hit you is going to go through the roof.

3 months...wtf! Call BMWNA and try to have them expedite the freight (via air). One would think they would have spare parts available in Germany. GL.

Sorry for your loss, that's crazy. As far as compensation for lost time, never really heard of that. Three months is crazy, I wish you the best.

Sounds like they are experiencing a shortage.

We order spare parts directly from Germany and have them shipped back to the US. It is both cheaper and faster than waiting for service parts to arrive in the US. Nonetheless, your insurance should pick up a loaner. Insist on something comparable or switch companies.
