something is wrong with your blower motor.

its under the dash, remove it and troubleshoot. maybe get a multimeter and look for power on the connector feeding it.

Pop the hood and look at the air intakes a lot of the time to prevent strain the blower will shut off if theres a blockage. Leaves and such are a common issue.

Final stage resistor?? They were a MAJOR problem in E46's. Here is a DIY for E9X's http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500653

The blower motor fails commonly in the e9x..the final stage resistor not so much (unlike the e46). My blower motor was making noise for a while (like a squealing hamster cage) due to rusting of the bearing/shaft engagement surfaces. This is usually caused by water that leaks down onto the motor from a faulty cowl assembly not sealing properly. Eventually the motor completely failed where you could hear it spinning, but at a much slower speed than even the slowest setting on the climate control unit and the speed would not change. I replaced the blower motor assembly (which is an extremely easy job by the way) and all is well

I had the same problem with my e90 320d. Every time it rains hard, my passenger footwell carpet gets wet. I opened the cover and found my blower motor rusted...... manu328, your blower motor was also rusted?...... Anybodyelse had the same problem?

It was the final stage resistor which failed on my '08 128i. The system worked fine except for no fan to move the air.
