Condensation in headlights?
Hi,
yes, I did search, and most of the threads talk about headlight modification, which I have not done. Today it snowed for the first time, I went out for a drive and when I got back home I noticed that my headlamps had condensation inside. There was a strip of condensation about 5x1 cm on the lower corner of both headlamps, near the kidneys. I have adaptive Xenons. I have never noticed this before. Should I be worried? |

there is a method that involves taking out the angel eye bulb and using a hair dryer or vacuum to get rid of the condensation. Just be sure to do it when the humidity is low. If it doesn't work, take it to the dealership and have them check the seals (if 2009+, your car is still under warranty).

I am still in warrantee, so I'd like to know if I should go to the dealer and insist I get both lights changed, or if I don't have to worry about it...

Go to the dealer since you are under warranty. You maybe screwed if you are in Canada b/c they tend to play by a different set of rules. They should replace the entire assembly b/c moisture can kill your adaptive light motor. The dealer will at least have record of the moisture if they do not replace it, and you will have evidence they could've been pro-active in resolving the issue if it dies later.

in my particular case, there was just a shit ton of water in my headlights and blew out my ballast. after you get out the condensation, double check all of the caps that are on the headlights and definitely think about changing those caps especially the top ones where water can seep through. caps are around 10 dollars each and i highly recommend changing them so you don't have to pay 150+ for a used ballast |

really? I mean a decent amount of water got into mine. Theres some water in the module. Low beams arent turning on neither is the adaptive headlight. Only thing that is working is the DRL.

are you under the original 50k bumper to bumper? they should, got mine done couple days before my warranty went out luckily. only issue they should throw is if you had some front end damage.. they did try to pretend nothing was wrong and stall out my warranty.. just show them exactly whats wrong if your all good on warranty.. wouldnt mention water, just say the adaptive is out should be enough for a change. let me know if it works out

I had condensation in my 3 wk old 2011 e92 msport coupe. Cpo and all....took it into Orange County bmw ny, and there was a service bulletin out on the condensation of lci headlights. Dealer is supposed to blow it out, dry it, etc.....good for about a week or so but got a little tonight. It's going back and they said to keep an eye on it. Seals and cap replacement is next. Then whole headlight. FYI: ****Never drive a 07+ BMW without any type of warranty. 3rd 335 1st with n55 and I would not purchase anything but cpo now. Also all my mods are BMW perf. Fuck that. Not worth getting flagged or going back to stock for service nomatter how good your SA is.
