Dsc Malfunction

Hey guys, I've been having this problem for a good year now. It popped up then went away for a maybe about 3 months. Now it's back on. It comes on and off, I'll pull out of my driveway with the "DSC MALFUNCTION" screen on my navi, and my brake light and dsc light on in yellow. After about 100 feet or so the light, and screen goes away. Then it pops up again after a few miles! Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what could be the problem? Car is out of warranty The last thing I want to do is take it in for a diagnosis and pay $120. I'm planning on selling the car soon, and would like to get rid of this light ASAP. Thanks!

I haven't heard of this problem yet -- does the traction light come on as well? (As in, the button pushes itself)

Did you ever have one of your tires blow out, and then kept driving? or hit a massive bump? might be a faulty DSC.

our cars have problems with the DSC Hydro unit.
In order to diagnose the problem, you have to read the codes.

Dsc light, and the e-brake light both turn on in yellow by themselves.

Sounds like something is up with your car. Do you have a code reader? If not, a local Indy shop should be able to pull the codes and pin point the problem for you.

Good luck!

This happened to me once about 6 months ago, then once again maybe one month ago. Both times it went away when I restarted the car. Neither time did I observe any symptoms besides the lights being on. I'm still not sure what to make of it.

My wife's 325i is having the same issue. I had the battery checked since other lights would flash on and off and it was fine. I had the alternator checked as well and the tech said there was a short and needed to be replaced. I had to special order the alternator (and AL bolts) and once those is in hand, I will get the alternator bench tested to determine if it is bad of not. Since last Turkey Day I replaced the idler and tension pulleys I feel like this should not be about the same size headache.

I borrowed an Innova OBDii scanner and on the initial inspection it did not give me any messages. I am going to look further into this and see what I can get out of it.

Once I have more info I will update here an there. It seems like an issue some people are having and once you are beyond the warranty period you might be looking into a major bill for something that is not (car) brain surgery. We shall see...

Got into a little fender bender, and had insurance put my car into the shop. They brang in a mechanic and he diagagnosed the problem. He said it's a problem with the SAS (Steering Angle Sensor). Its very common, and pricey to fix. Im really not sure what to do from here

I had this problem and after replacing a wheel bearing, rear pads and rotors, and the dsc module computer and its sensor, we got it to go off.

I had these lights come on after replacing my shocks and springs. DSC, DTC, ABS lights were all on. Got the codes read and it turned out to be the Driver side ABS sensor. (Part # 34526760424 - ECS tuning) I ordered it and was able to change it out in 15 minutes on my lunch break using a DIY someone post on here. At first the errors didn't go away, but after driving for 8 seconds, it disappeared.

OP, any update on the issue?

I am looking at an indy shop asking $850 for the parts/labor and all.

I've heard the unit is about ~450-500 so if I can get it done cheaper, might look into it.
