335i LCI switch to '06 750i LCI? Would you?

Just looking for some user input. Love my 335i -- nothing wrong with it, beautiful car. Found a really good deal for a 2006 750i with under 30k mileage on the clock. It'll cost me 200 bucks less monthly, and I'm about to pull the trigger. How would the reliability be overall? Would you guys do this? I need the 4 doors and completely don't mind having to pay less insurance and less payments. Just looking for some opinions or advice.

Out of warranty... which is why it's depreciated to the point of affordability perhaps. I contemplated a very similar situation with a 2006 M6 a few weeks ago.

The 750 is HEAVY. Its very different than a 335, try it thoroughly first, especially if you like to carve corners.

95% of my time is spent in regular driving. The 750i is fast enough for its size and I generally just drive regularly. Kinda tired of stiffer suspensions and all that. Gas won't be a big difference. I drive highway all the time. I drove the car and loved it. Serene, quiet, comfortable. The price is the win, but the reliability factor is scaring me. My 3 has all the warranty I'd need, but not this.

Mainly wanting comfort over sportiness. Secondary after price.

Unreliable compared to other cars or unreliable compared to the 335i? From all the issues people have with the 335i, I think only the electronics can hinder the 7-series, right?

Have you checked out Lexus? If you are going to buy a hum-drum granny car, you might as well buy one with a good reputation for reliability. I suggest a 2007-2008 Lexus ES. Super boring, comfortable, decent on gas, reliable and only slightly uglier than the 2006 7 series.

The V8 cars have a tube that runs from front of engine to rear in the valley. It connects the front cooling with the rear of the engine. The seals leak. It's not if, it's when. THe cheap repair is around $3-4K. The dealer will want $6-7K.

Mind you, this is almost all V8 BMW engines in 5 and 7 series.

24L/100km is not something I would trade for in addition that it is out of warranty.

Especially if you are looking to save $200 a month, the gas bill will rack up quickly.

If you don't mind the extra bulk, and are looking for luxury/comfort over sportiness/fun-factor, then go for it.

Buy a mint E39 M5 or E60 550i. The 7 series is way too big IMO.

I don't even want to mention the horrible unreliability and gas-guzzling of that V10, not even minding insurance. Plus, I'm never going to find anything like that with the same miles and price that this is selling for.

That V8 is going to average me around 18 MPG with my driving. My previous car, G37S, averaged me 20. I don't mind.

I don't think a 7-series is boring. It does a quarter mile in less than 14 seconds, and for its size, that's incredible. It nails what it does. ES is a Camry platform--it's a car I'd buy for my mom, lol. It's not as fun as a 3, yes, but by no means a granny car.

Would love a new one! But too expensive for similar condition. And I think the new gen has too much technology, lol.
