E92 M3 vs. C63? Which would you pick? Regardless of price..
Both pretty sexy cars. Fast straight line, heavy, beautiful (c63 more so), refined, special, and has quite the exhaust note. All biased and hate aside, what would you pick?
Personally, I would go for the c63 for many many reasons. The decision obviously lies on perspective and what you've read and seen in pictures so I think the edge is pretty even. Note that none of us have driven any of these cares. So what's your pick?

i anxiously await both cars and cannot wait to test drive them to see which is the better fit for me. im still leaning towards the M3 because i have yet to drive a MB saloon that handles well, although the c63 may change that and the M3 will probably be the more balanced, all around performer.

you just opened up a can of worms... but to get back on topic, as of right now i'd choose an M3 because i like the way they drive, and i dont see this changing too much with release of the two cars

one more thing to add, i saw the new c-class at the dealer the other day and the interior materials were pretty bad. the plastic on the dash looked like it belonged on a toy, not in a luxury brand vehicle.

I'm hopelessly addicted to the high-revving M engines so I would choose the M3...but I have to admit that the c63 is one good looking car

M all the way. MUCH better engine, MUCH better transmission option, and better cornering. Straight line acceleration is overrated; if it's so important just get an American car.

I would definitely have to say M3 all the way. I think it's just the fact that it's a C-class. I am either getting the coupe or the cab, so therefore the 4 door wouldnt make as much sense. In the end though, I am so much more impressed with the build of the M compared to the benz.

The 4 liter V8 in the M3 is a technical masterpiece. But it is hard to argue with a 6.2 Liter V8 that makes 150 lbs more torque, 35 more HP, and still revs to 7200.
I think I'll have to wait to drive both . . . but as a track junkie I suspect the M3 will get my knod.

If C63 follows the same road as the C55 did in handling wise
E92 M3 hands down... Handling is more important to me then a simple straight line race.... There is a lot more in life then just holing the Gas pedal down

difficult to get an unbiased opinion in am M3 bmw forum. But trying as much as i can i honestly think the c63 is not a beautiful car to look at. The 6.2l engine seems lazy in design and technological advancement when compared to the E92's V8.
Front valence looks like an aero kit from citroen saxo or similar. Wheel arches look like an after thought. Maybe stuck on? Lets wait and see if the MB does sub 8:00. Either way its M3 for me m-dct. |

M3, because it's not about numbers, it's about the M philosophy. The C-class is just a C-class with a big engine and some suspension twiddling. The M3 goes way beyond that.

M3
C63 will be a hoss though, especially with its ~150 lb/ft torque advantage. I don't really like the styling though. Looks too much like an S-class. And too much like a regular C-class with AMG badging. I'd feel like I was posing a little.

M3 due to no manual or DCT in the C63.
IMHO, also this comparison gets a little murky since there is no C63 coupe or cab. There is a CLK63 cab which costs about 90K and a CLK63 coupe Black edition for an estimated 130K. IOW, if you want anything but a 4-door, you quicky run into Porsche-topping prices at the Mercedes dealership, while at the BMW dealership. |
