Winter Tires for E90 328i

I sold my winter beater last year, and now I am planning on driving my RWD 328i this winter.

I drive up the mountains for snowboarding at least once a week, and I'm looking for a no-compromise all out winter tire that would work best for getting me up the mountain. Plowing is pretty good on the roads leading up to the hills I go to, but there will be times where I'll be treading on 3" of snow.

I plan on using my old 16" OEM wheels, which have a original tire size of 205/55/16.

Can anyone recommend me a winter tire make/model?

Also - Has anyone tried fitting a 205/65/16 tire (I know... it's +2 sized) but I am thinking the ground clearance and the narrowness would be a be a plus for snowy situations.

Thanks!

Changing the rolling diameter of the wheels is not a good idea. Chances are you will rub the body work, and it throws off the design of he suspension.

I had 205/55/16 Bridgestone Blizzaks on my E46 in New England, and they worked well except for deep snow. For that, one size narrower, 195, with the same diameter, 195/60, would have worked better in snow, but less well in the dry. They were surprising good in the dry.
