Saw something today (please chime in E93 owners) on my hardtop switch

I noticed the red light on the right flickered a few times when I turned the car on. Is this some kind of self test for the hardtop, or is this a problem?

No iDrive warnings, so I assume it is normal, but it freaked me out a little

I never noticed it before until now, but that is not to say it wasn't doing it right along.

Please let me know all you vert owners!

I've never noticed this before but I'll see if mine does this next time I start the engine.

As long as that top opens and closes without issues, I wouldn't worry about it. BMWs are known for electrical randomness.

Hey Dark_Knight:

I checked it out this evening when I took the car for a spin and didn't see anything light up on mine. I would just diss it. That drop top goes up and down, it's all good. Yours is too.

Thanks so much JR!
It's very faint and you really have to pay attention to it. It is a little flicker - like two little blinks- on the side that has the red light.
I think it may be a power on self test like every other light bulb in the car, and like you said the hardtop works as intended
Lol yea Sammy- All this "fancy" is landing me in the dealership more often than I'd like!

Here is a video in case anyone is wondering what I'm talking about. Pay very close attention to the light on the top- you can miss it very easily.

Mine is a 2007 and I only have one light there not two like yours. Mine doesn't blink at all. IMO if your top works, I wouldn't worry about it too much

Agree.

I have a 2011 E93 like the OP and mine only has one light as well. I bet if mine had two lights, it'd do the same. Strange.

That's bizarre, there should be a green light on the left and a red light on the right above the switch (I have a 2011 as well.)

Thanks for checking though
