Ride quality 19 inch wheels vs 18 inch wheels

If you are using a non runflat tire like a goodyear eagle F1 or a michelin pilot sport 2, is there a significant ride quality difference between a set of 19 inch wheels vs 18 inch wheels?

19's will be harder with the same tyre type because you will need a lower profile meaning less rubber and air to cushion between you and the road. Whether you find it uncomfortable is personal opion. If the 18's are RFT's you may not notice any difference. But i would also be interested in hearing from those who have made the swap.

I can't speak from personal experience yet...as I am still waiting for my wheels...but several people on this forum have commented that their 19" rims with non-runflat tires have an equivalent ride quality or better than their factory 17" rims with runflat tires.

But I think it depends also on what PSI you run your tires as well...

I'm leaning towards just getting 18"s Again. There is no performance benefit to the 19"s and it limits the decent rubber available, not to mention a few pounds per wheel in a lot of cases.

But I dunno, as others have mentioned 18" RFTs VS 19" Non-RFTs... Probably wont feel a lot of difference comfort wise.

Yeah I know Revlis...but 19" looks so nice tho!

I think if you go back to 18"...definately try to stay away from black wheels or with a step lip design...as these make the wheel looks smaller than they actually are...

We'll as I spoke yesterday just a few hours later I order a set of 19" DPEs from Longtran... So... So much for that Idea.

Flack Black GT7s... Yummy.

I do have 19" wheels and Goodyear F1 tires. The ride is better then the stock 18" with run flats. If you put non run flats on a 18" wheel the ride would be better then a 19" wheel with a non run flat.

As far a weight. My 19" wheels with F1's was a total of 12 lbs lighter then stock wheel set up. Picture of my wheels.
