Odd Driving Habits that You do with Your Car
I was driving yesterday and couldn't help but think how OCD I am about so many things when I drive. I'm not talking just keeping things clean or eating in the car or not running it hard till the oil temps go up.
Here are a couple. 1.) I never like coming to a complete stop at a light since I don't want my hot pads/rotors leaving uneven dust marks if I just stop and hold in one place. 2.) When I park, I always have to put the car in neutral, put on the e-brake, then put it into park. 3.) I can never have my windows open with the A/C on, it's either one or the other. 4.) When I park, I always need to park closer to the left (My drivers door) because I safely assume the car on my left doesn't have a passenger so my door won't get dinged. 5.) I can't use my front visor because I hate how it limits my vision with the small little visor. 6.) My wife never drives, whether it's her car or mine, I always drive. I'm a horrible side seat driver, like if she comes to a light and a car is in the right lane and no one in the left and she just stays behind the car in the right, it makes my heart rate double! Just curious if I'm the only strange guy on here. |

LOL the last one
Whenever I'm playing my music loud and I pull up to a red light near other cars I always turn it down. But that could just be common courtesy. If my windows are down they need to be at the same level. For example if the driver side window is half way down the passenger side window needs to also. Lights always have to be on so other cars see me before changing lanes or whatever. that's all I got and some of them you already mentioned. cool topic btw |

I only have a couple lol
-steering wheel is always straight when I park -cup holders are always closed if not being used lol -If a window is only partially down, the other side has to match lol -I'm similar to that #6 but my gf actually makes me drive because "it's the mans job to drive" I think I got a keeper haha That's about it for me haha |

^thats about it....And I think I signal a lot (ie pulling over to talk someone when I'm the only car on the street-no car behind me.)

Left and right temp have to be the same. I can't stand one being, let's say, 64° and the other 68°.

2.) When I park, I always have to put the car in neutral, put on the e-brake, then put it into park. --> this, but only when i park on an incline.
and, of course, the part where i park the car as far away from other cars as possible, to avoid dings. Most of the time, even if my car is the only one in a 500-space parking lot, there is an idiot who thinks parking right next to the only car in the lot is the right thing to do. Grrr! Oh, and i'm also obsessed about bird droppings to the point that i sometimes go out just to check if any bird pooped on my car. I've learned my lesson after i once found my car full of bird poop, which left more than 20 etches in the clear coat. It was a bitch to polish those out!

Also +1 to having windows at the same level. I will sit and fidget with them until they're equal. I also have to make sure that my wheels and steering wheel are exactly straight when parked, and god help anyone who messes with my seat adjustments and doesn't put it back before exiting the car (i.e. when it's in for service). Oh, and I am also incredibly OCD about my tire pressure. I check it every other day and make sure that all tires match exactly. I will pay $1 at the gas station air machine to add 1/2 lb of air (not that you shouldn't do this anyway but I am a little anal about it).

I do a lot of these, I'd add downshifting to avoid braking whenever possible. Slight slowdowns on the highway, even to a stop at a red light if I have enough distance. I'm sure my transmission hates me.
I also have a weird habit of occasionally paddleshifting down when I'm in first gear, and up when I'm in 6th, even though it doesn't do anything. |

1. Ever since I bought a new M-Sport steering wheel, I use hand sanitizer before starting my car. 11 months later, and the wheel still looks brand new
2. I insist that all of my passengers (fiance included) put all of their bags in the backseat or trunk. I can't stand it when people try to cram into my front seat (coupe) with a purse, a backpack, and/or other bags. I camoflauge my hidden agenda by taking their bags for them and tossing them in the trunk before they even get the chance to bring their stuff into my car! 3. I requested a parking spot in my apartment building on the highest floor (5th floor) next to the handicap space. I did this because I figured there are 50 handicap spots on the first 4 floors of the parking garage, and no one would ever drive up to the 5th floor to park in a handicap spot. So I have the empty handicap spot on the left of me, and my fiance parked to the right side of me. hahah 4. Always close cupholders when not in use +1 5. Always have temp settings the same on driver/passenger +1 |
