Buying Rims off Ebay.
I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased rims off Ebay. The prices look too good to be true. If you have, how was your experience?

Ebay is really hit or miss. You can find some great deals on there but I cannot stress the importance of research. Make sure the vendor is well backed and offers at least some sort of warranty/contact information. My issue with ebay is you are largely left in the dust if anything goes wrong with the wheels, if you purchase from a reputable source then you have a place to go to with any problems.

Well here is the thing, all the wheels are like 1/2 off the Vendors here. The only reputable vendor I found was VMR (velocity motor racing).
I dropped by Trinity Wheels today and the owner was discussing the matter with me. As Jlevisw pointed out, it is really hit or miss. Trinity Wheels claims most of the wheels can only be sold at the rock bottom price due to blemishes. Sometimes these are minor blemishes sometimes these are major blemishes that may lead to disastrous results later on...including accidents. Budget is important but do your research. |

i bought a set of wheels off ebay once, long time ago... paid them dirt cheap... they lasted 3 years then i sold them for 50% more than what i paid them.... i would spend big money for wheels off ebay, but for el cheapo 400-500 19's, i'd try it...

Be careful when you purchase rims on eBay, like others have said, make sure its a reputable vendor and dig deep in their feedback to make sure you don't get any nasty surprises when you get your product. Rims aren't as easy or as cheap to return as say a cell phone battery. As you may know, wheels are made in many different countries around the world, each with different labor costs which also happens to be one of the highest costs in manufacturing. The factories also get to choose the grade of aluminum raw material... You'll probably see brand new 18" wheels with price ranging from $50-250. I can give you dozens of reasons to this... Bottom line, just make sure you trust the name behind the product.
