I have MY 2013 328i with Nav and tech package and an iPhone 4S. Can someone give me the steps so that I can see the iPod out on the Nav?

You need the Media Cradle (~$250), or have the car coded to support iPod out via the standard USB connector.

Also, there are some major trade-offs and loss of iDrive functions when iPod Out is used related to maps and navigation. Refer to this thread:

I'm a huge Apple fan, wanted the iPod Out display desperately, but once I was better informed I cooled on it very quickly.

Thanks. I do have the cradle. I like the BMW menu system but still wanted to experiment with the iPod out function. Are there settings on either the car or the phone that I need to do in order to get t to work?

Nope, just plug your phone into the cradle. You will have the option to Activate Plugin, and you'll see the iPod out screen.
