Embarrassing convertible moment
....SOOoooo I just came out the gym after a good work out, feeling proud and confident and decided to do a "flashy freddy" (as someone once called it on here) drop the top as I was feeling too hot. And the thing jammed at the last bit of its motion; where the roof is in the boot space but the boot lid is vertical!
Why? Because I had some clothes and a plastic bag in the section where the arms compress. To make matters worse it wouldnt go back up as well. After 3 mins of digging and pulling I managed to get the stuff loose and the mech began functioning again. By the way everything just stopped I'm guessing I was lucky. Has this happened to anyone before, if so what did you do to fix it? Whats the alternative? lol (I dread to think) |

mine didn't stop but I did open it once with a cd pouch in the place where the arms go. The roof just closed wonky and had me baffled...thought it was a dealer jobbie until I closed it and went to have a look in the boot.

yeah, the folded up roof did look a little out of line by an inch or so, but it seems to have closed up perfectly again. Maybe it has a bit of play in the fold for such stupid accidents as mine.
Would BMW have to be called out to fix this if I hadnt managed to work the items out of the space or is there some sort of manual fold like sunroofs have? |

Speaking of embarrasing convertible moments, my former g/f told me about how she was giving her then b/f a BJ in a convertible with the top down by the side of the road in a country lane, when a big tour bus happened to drive past, slowly.
I'm still wondering WTF I was thinking and didn't marry that one. |

I had a similar incident with my E93. The weather seemed good! An Audi A4 cab near me had just dropped its roof so I thought I would The roof started doing its 'Optimus prime' act only for it to jam with the boot still vertical too.. Luckily pushing the switch back put the roof back up. I got out to investigate the problem, which was my John west tuna, light lunch tin that had been in the side pouch, this had been obliterated.. Luckily the roof didn't carry on down and get damaged. I wasnt put off in the end, I ate my mangled lunch and put the roof down then carried on

I remember in years gone by you used to get an allen key for closing an electric sunroof if the electrics failed....
Can you imagine using an allen key to close the full roof,? lol An RSI moment if ever there was one! |
