Roof: Feet, Bars, Bikes Racks and Boxes… My set up.

I have noticed a few threads asking for advice on roof racks etc.

Here is my set up.

I have Thule parts. I have a foot kit that attaches to the mounting points on the roof then attached to those ‘feet’ is the square bar system. On top of that are either the Thule Cycle racks or my Thule Atlantis 200 box.. As you can see from the images it doesn’t look too shabby.

I had this set up on my e39 5 Series and to ‘convert’ it all over I needed to buy the ‘foot pack’ rather than the whole kit.

Pros – all looks good and professional, it’s tested, safe and mega secure.

Cons – the cycle racks with cycles will kill your MPG by about 6-7, the roof box will kill your MPG by about 4. You also have to seriously watch height restrictions on car parks etc.. even more so with the bikes on the roof.
