Update: spoken to Superchips even though its probably the same car i.e. 335d they will need to download a new map through superchips via their PC/mac at a cost of £299

I am therefore selling this for the first £50 + postage

Thereby still saving you on the new cost of £455

The Superchips site gives 60bhp increase which puts it to over 350bhp, has to be fun.

surely the map for a 335d is already on the handset ? cant a new buyer just plug the device into the obd and load the map ? if you needed to reload the map for any reason, could you ?

Correct, I would think you are probably right, as If I need to reload the map i can! So it most probably is just superchips trying to screw more money out of people, even though it will probably work as is.

However i have to inform potential buyers what they have said.

The map is married to the car. The first time you plug a reset controller into your car , it reads the ECU and stores it ( which is why it takes a while the first time). This file is then sent off to SC who inturn "swop" it for a map. This is done because it acts like a back up in case things to t1ts up. Your std map is safe with SC

If you load the map back onto the controller and plug it into a new car .. it wont download it to the new car .. it just errors.

If you are selling the BF device you have to load the map back onto the controller before it is sent back to SC to be reset.

If you load the BF map onto the car then sell the controller the buyer will be buying the standard map of the previous car and when it goes to SC to be reset , then they will see this and charge you the full price of a BF map.

£50 is a reasonable price to pay for a s/h BF unit
