Really not sure

I've posted z similar thread a month or so back but now I've got an option to pay £500 and get into a 18 month old Alfa guieliatte 2litre 170 veloce with 15k on the clock. I currently love my car but possibly thinking if something goes wrong it may cost me a fair whack. It's a 330d msport with 52k on it and it will need servicing in 2 months. Warranty runs out in 2 months as well. The Alfa won't need a service for 2 years. It comes with a 2 year warranty and is specked ok too. I'm really in between what to do.

Ps I'm on a iPad hence the crap spelling.

That actually is a tough choice. The Alfa is probably more likley to break but then you have the warranty to fall back on. It will prob cost more than £500 to service your 330d over the next 2 years.

This must come down to which you like more and feel better about. The Alfa is going to feel gutless in comparison which would be a deal breaker for me but that might not be your main priority atm.

330d every day of the week, including the weekends and bank holidays.

So what if the Alfa is newer? Wow, it has a different number on the numberplate. I don't care how old my car is - i care how it drives and how i feel about owning it. In another 18 months, the main "shine" of the Alfa being new will have gone, and you'll be left with a 3 year old Alfa which is nosediving in value.

As said, you'll be able to service your 330d and almost renew the warranty for another year for £500.

I dont hear of many 330d's going wrong.

Alfa however, well enough said!

The depreciation on Alfa's is also catastrophic - in the end it will cost you much more over a 1/2/3 year period!

I would have to agree with all the above, before I bought my E92 I went to look at a ex-demo 3.2V6 Brera which had about 4k miles on it and even at that point it had several faults which needed to be fixed and this was at a main dealer. I couldn't understand why the dealer would let potential buyers drive the car in that condition, I pointed out the faults to him and he said not to worry that they would all be fixed before I took delivery of the car, my response was why have they not be fixed already its basically a new car.

Had a very strange day, I agree with all of you, and decided to keep the beemer, I just love the car and couldn't bear to say goodbye at the dealer, so I'm keeping it, but on the way home someone drove into the back of and has utterly totalled the back end !!!

The Alfa will plummet in value. Good choice.

I bought a brand new Alfa 156 about 10 years ago - i turned up at the dealer with my favourite CD at the time ready to enjoy the drive home......did all of the paperwork and got in the car, put in the CD and set off - CD player did not work....brand new car. Dealer apologised and told me to bring the car back in a week and they'd order a new CD unit.

Set off again minus any music and got 10 miles down the road before i got a ' motor control failure reduced engine power' warning. Took the car back to the dealer and got a loan car to drive home in. Went back to collect the car a week later - CD player fixed and no warning. I got home and the following day on start up the 'motor control failure was back and despite 10 trips to the dealer over the course of 12 months it was never rectified properly - they paid me compensation and i sold the car back to them.

Worst car i have ever owned and depreciation was horrific. Buying a warranty for your 330d will be much cheaper than the depreciation on a newer Alfa.

I agree, driving the bmw just feels a lot more solid, even the test car i drove had bits falling off, so I'm definately not swapping for an alfa, I'll keep mine, and hopfully i'll get it back after its been repaired after todays crash

chers all - it was a guilietta , but im glad i never went for it, Its a nice looking card from the outside, but its really flawed, and I know for a fact that if i was daft enough to buy one (which I'm not) then I'd be pissed off every time a bmw went past, and kicking myself . definately made the right decision, now all i have to do is wait and see if they can repair mine, if not I'll take whatever they offer me and out it towards something newer
