My dilemma on tyres... Advice pls?

Help pls Gang

My dilemma is this..

My rear o/s tyre needs replacing. It’s currently a Bridgestone Potenza 255/35R18 run flat as is the rear n/s tyre.

The fronts are both Bridgestone Potenza 225/40R18 run flats and the o/s front is wearing on the outer edge.

I’ve discovered, to my delight, how expensive these bad boys are.. approx £250 a tyre

A mate at work has a mint (never used) rear tyre that is exactly what I need for the worn o/s/r and he wants £200 for it. I still, however, need to replace the front tyre in the very near future.

Is it worth considering changing them all to non-run flats (and what are the pit falls).. or carry on with the expensive routine of replacing Bridgestone run flats as and when.

Thanks,

Tarby

I would bite the bullet and make the change.
Downside are:The security that a runflat may give you.I have seen high speed blowouts at though.
You will have to make one-off investments of tyre weld, jack, compressor or even a space saver(if you do,there is the reduced boot space issue).
Upsides are:
Cheaper tyres, more compliant /comfortable drive, reduced issues with alloys cracking etc etc
I changed to vredestein Ultrac Sessantas and haven't looked back.
I also invested, over time in all of the above extras from a variety of sources-worth it IMO...

Perfect! And to be honest, you might as well invest in some 19"s and a remap too.You know it makes sense!

Arghhhhhhh lol!!

Feckenzeee feck!

Dunno what to dooooooo

About 600 will get all 4 wheels done... I'm assuming by what has been posted its a simple case of getting the correct 'non' run flats fitted? I am also hearing I need to find a tyre place that won't demand to take the others away for 'recycling' !?!

Thanks for the advice guys.

Yes the 19s look sweet..

Remap... That's coming

Any decent independent tyre place should change over tyres for you, and give you back your old ones.

You should get a good chunk of money back for your RFT's on ebay, so cost to change wont be so much of a sting. And you already have £200 towards the process saved by not buying your mates RFT. All in, you should manage £200 back from your old tyres (condition dependant), so only a couple hundred extra for 4 new tyres.

I found lovetyres to be very good pricing on vreds (would be £469.98 delivered for all 4 vred sessanta). Thats what I changed to. Add on about £40 for your local indy to swap tyres, so that only just over £500. So you might actually manage for £100 extra outlay.

EDIT: As you put you were gonna go for 19's whilst I was typing, £671 for 19" vreds...
