Agree, no need for the snobbery just cause you have a 335. I have a 318i which I bought new. I could equally have bought a 335 used for the same money, but chose not to as it doesn't suit my needs.
Mine is debadged, but I'm under no illusions that anyone will think it is anything better than it is. The exhaust gives it away anyway. For the record I'd never put an m badge on it, but does it really matter if any others do? We all know it means nothing unless on an m car, and even then, it's just a badge. If you debadge an m3, does it become anything less than an m3? |

There is no snobbery here I am far from been like that I just don't get it. I like the m badges when there in the right places. I think they look ok before or after the model designation but not on its own. I am yet to see one on a 6 pot but I'm sure I will be proved wrong. I like anything to do with bmw. After all our cars all look the same apart from exhaust and engines. and that even stretches to the new minis (coopers only that is and not the hurst looking ones lol) it wasn't meant to offend anyone

Generally speaking it is usually the smaller engined 3 series with the ///M badges on them. But I have also seen 335's with them.
Utter Clownage whether a 318 or a 335. I have an M3 badge on my car, and I didn't have an ///M badge on my 335.

I dont get what the big fuss is about, its an M-Sport badge, if you have an M-Sport why not put a badge on it? However i would think its ridiculous if i saw an M3 or M5 badge on a car which clearly isnt one.
For the record i do not have one on my car, neither do i plan on putting one on. |

Its personal choice.
If owner of some car (whether 318 or 335) likes it, let him get one and stick it on his car. What is problem with that? What is big fuss about it? I don't know but on this forum people is fussy about any and everything. Live your life and lets others live theirs. End of.

The m - badge we are talking about is NOT an M-Sport badge it is an M Division badge marking cars produced by //M division - the 1M, the M3, M5, M6, X5M and X6M.
For marketing purposes, BMW put little m badges on wheels and gear lever of m-sport models but the pukka M badge on the outside of a non-M car is a bit like putting a GTi badge on a 1400cc Golf. It isn't a GTi. With regard to comments about four cylinder 3 series, although there have been some people over the last five years who seem to sneer at them on this forum they actually are in a very small minority. If you think about it, we are all used to mainstream manufacturers where the larger the engine in the particular range, the better the car not just in power output but in refinement, equipment, etc. so over the years, larger engines have been associated with better cars but this is not the case with brands like BMW. The smaller engined cars are as capable as the larger, just a little bit slower (and use less fuel!) but they have the same chassis, handling, etc. as the bigger engined cars and can be equipped to the same levels so the mantra of small engine, cheap car does not apply. Hence in the old days, if a person wanted a mainstream car with all the toys, refinement etc. of the large engined models but didn't want a powerful, thirsty engine, he couldn't get his wish. As an aside, since members of my family have had BMWs since 1966, there was, for a long time, a "conceit" that a real performance car had a six cylinder engine, and never a four, e.g. I remember when Mercedes brought out their first four cylinder car a lot of enthusiasts shook their heads and said "not a real Merc without at least six cylinders", and as BMW became famous for their silky smooth sixes, that atitude spread to cover BMW models. But that was a long time ago and the average four cylinder Merc or BMW can thrash the arse off any old school six you care to mention. |

Well, its their car they can do whatever they please, why that should make anyone rant seems a little sensitive but hey like it's their car rant over what the hell you like!
The m badge denotes m division input whether that be styling or tweaking. No input no badge and I will stick with that ethos. |

But it is the same identical badge isn't is it? Unless followed by a 3, 5 etc it is the same badge, exactly. My 318i sport plus has at least 6 of them on it, put there by BMW themselves so you cannot say it is 'exclusive to m cars'.
