My Iphone Is Not Compatible

Anyone got there iphone's ipod function to work the same way they did with there normal ipod! I have a belkin charger that has the 3.5mm jack cord plugged into the center consoules aux hole and it works FLAWLESS with an IPOD..
connect the iphone and all i get is "THis phone is not compatible with this system would u like to switch to airplane mode"

and it plays out the phone not out the stereo

PLEASE HELP

iPHone is not fully compatible with BMWs. BMW totally dropped the ball by posting on day 1 (june 29) that they were the first car compatible. they should be ashamed of themselves to keep that website alive? my iPhone works 90% of the time in my car, so I called and complained to BMWUSA 800#. sure enough the guy i spoke with apologized saying iPHones are NOT compatible with BMW and they made a mistake.

my only complaing with the iphone is that i cant change the song w/ cd controls using the aux plug. I have to go to the iphone and change it there. Minor problem im guessing it can be fixed with adapter but i dont feel like buying it. lol

that is not the iPhone's fault? you can not control any mp3 device (or phone with mp3 capablity) with AUX port?

My iPhone connected and played through the Logic 7 speakers just like my iPod and worked normally through my stereo, steering wheel, and idrive.
My only complaint is that it won't charge the iPhone. I wound up returning my iPhone because :

1. The BMW iPod interface will not charge it,
2. No 3rd party software,
3. Extremely limited YouTube support (only a small selection of videos)
4. no Java support so it can't support online chatting to save SMS charges.
5. No tethering support so you can't use it as a modem for laptops.
6. Most people I know are on Verizon
7. Edge networks SLOW (are not much better than dial up)

My iphone works fine besides not charging through the cable. I can control the iphone's ipod features through my idrive like normal. I do get an error message stating that it's not compatible and asking if I'd like to turn on airplane mode... I disregard it. Works fine otherwise.
