330d Touring M Sport

Hi all,
New to the forum - hope its a friendly place ;o)

Counting the days until I get my hands on my new BM.

Spec ..
330d Touring M Sport
Melbourne Red
Visibility Pack
Advanced Parking Pack
Professional Media Pack
Adaptive Suspension

Current car is a Mercedes C250 Sport. VERY disappointed in a) build quality of the car b) dealer attitude and c) manufacturer attitude. Hoping that I can get at lease one of those complaints removed by going down the BMW route.

Dealer advises of a Mid to end of Sept build date with Mid Oct for delivery. Can't wait !

Andy

Welcome to the forum! I'm assuming you've driven the 330d and if so you'll know what a great car it is compared to the C-Class. I was seriously considering a new W204 when buying my current car and drove a C220 CDI back to back with a 320d. No contest at all, the BMW was so much better!

Good choice of options, I've heard the adaptive suspension is a very worthwhile option in particular. I was a little surprised not to see heated seats on your options list though - you'll have a cold bum in winter with those leather seats!

I hope your experience of BMW is better than Mercedes!

similar spec, went for the bigger wheels and M Sport brakes. If my experience with the 530d is anything to go by it will be swift!

Sorry mate IT IS NOT.The engine will be released September time, so new F10 330D's will get the new engine. torque difference is only 540Nm against new 560Nm but engine lightened fuel pressure changed and other stuff I can't find the link at the Moment.

Lovely blue (think its the M3 blue?) that...was playing with the configurator today and ended up with the beige combo.

Do you have any pics of cars with it already?

Well spotted that man!
Didnt realise they were a different spec engine. Looks the the new 330d is only 20Nm (or 14 lb ft) short of the 335d E9X torque. No wonder the performance is looking promising.

Also, the F30 330d is 13bhp up on the E9X 330d, but torque is up 40 Nm (or 30 lb ft). Very useful extra torque and should be a cracking engine.

Thanks all,
Long story how I got to the BM.

Extremely unhappy with Mercedes (apart from the shape - I still think that the S205 is probably the best looking tourer out there), I decided to switch brands. But to which marque?

I drove a 320d about 3 years ago and didn't feel the love. So BM was out. A few chaps in work have Audi and I've not heard a single good word said. So who was I going to choose ?

I decided to go against the grain. And get a Volvo ! I was 99% ready to click that order button, when I had a 3 day demonstrator. Oh my God! Hated everything about the car. Just couldn't get on with it. It was the D5 V60 - so about 215 BHP, but it just didnt have "the xfactor".

Damn - who am I going to pick now. I then had the pleasure of a fully loaded 530d Touring demonstrator for 5 days (which I kindly put on about 1k miles ;o) ).

I cried as I had to hand the keys back. I reckon the 530d was quite possibly the BEST car I have EVER driven (and I've been a few £80k+ cars). The 3.0d engine. The 8sp auto box. The seats. I was in love. The wife could see I was getting itchy to totally switch brands and size of car (remember, I'm in a S204 at the moment, and was looking at a Volvo V60! So the 530d was a total about change).

After handing the car back (and then getting a Merc E350 demonstrator for a few days) I had kinda forgotton the 530d as a package, but still remembered the engine and the gearbox.

Checked the prices for a 530d and it was a little more than I wanted to spend. So I've taken a plunge. I've ordered the 330d without a) even having DRIVEN the new 3 series, b) not being particularly impressed with the 320d from 3 years ago and c) not even having seen a 330d Touring in the flesh.

Me? Gambler ?

Luckily, I only keep the car for 2 years and then I get to change again. So if the car really is THAT bad (can a car, circal £40k really be classed as 'BAD'??), I get to pick something else.

Would've gone for the 335, but its not out yet it seems. All well, that what Sept 2014 will bring.

I think you have done the right thing . You will love the 330d. I dont know anyone who has driven one and not liked it. Buckets of torque and great fun to drive. I personally prefer it to the 335d as the single turbo gives a powerful shove as opposed to the linear smooth steady power of the 335d. This assuming of course the F30/F31 330d will be similar in power delivery to the E9X 330d.

To be honest, I dont think I would be that impressed with a 320d after owning and driving a couple of 330d's for a few years (no disrespect to 320d owners ). Each to there own.

You won't regret buying a 330d I'm sure. The F30 to me feels quite 'grown up' next to the E90, not far off a 5-series I suspect. It also wipes the floor with the W204. I drove a C220CDI and 320d back to back (literally, both within an hour) and the F30 is sooo much better.

This isn't just because I like BMW's. I really wanted to like the W204 as the overall package is good and I love the classy and understated looks, but it really couldn't compete in terms of the drive.

My car is only a 318d and it is smooth and reasonably quick, so a 6-pot with close to 300bhp would be awesome!
