Winning at Pikes Peak 2012 - HRE Wheels

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2012 has come to an end. All the competitors have overcome huge obstacles and challenges. But in the end, they all walked away having challenged the feared and exhausting beast known as the mountain. The fully paved surface has changed the event for a new generation.

HRE Wheels acquired a new record year thanks to Rhys Millen's record setting time of 9:46.164 in his Hyundai Genesis Coupe equipped with HRE C90. Finishing 1st in his Time Attack class and his new world record.

Monster Tajima had some of the best times during practice. His new E-runner all-electric vehicle equipped with HRE P43S Tajima Specials, suffered a fire on race day and he was unable to finish. His head is high as he prepares his attack on the mountain next year.

Also, newcomers to the mountain, LoveFab featuring driver navigator couple Cody Loveland and Tabitha Lohr came in 2nd for the Unlimited class in a fully fabricated Acura NSX featuring the all-new HRE C96S 6-spoke wheel. To celebrate the moment Cody proposed to his lovely navigator and won a place in her heart.

We encourage all racers to congradulate everyone involved in this amazing event and look forward to newcomers in the years to come.

Awesome shots! I still think that fully paving Pikes Peak is sacrilege. It won't be as fun to watch or be as challenging. The alluring part of Pikes Peak was that the car/driver had to be able to tackle dirt and asphalt equally as well. Times have changed I suppose.

Really waiting for someone to run a LM Prototype or F1/IRL single seater up the Peak. Somewhat surprised Millen didn't run the same car as last year, I thought that one was specifically designed for the all tarmac course this year.

Also it's not a world record it's the Pikes Peak record.
