Hi,
I have a 2009 325 lci(Euro Model) I heard so much about the earlier hydraulic steering of the bmws & also about the not so great Servotronic one. How will i know which one i got? my steering does feels nice & the feedback is awesome, is there a way i can find out which one i got by vin number or something?

You can have servotronic on both hydraulic and electric power steering and all it does does is vary the amount of power assistance based on your engine speed. I think pre-LCI had it as standard (certainly for 6 cylinder models) but for my LCI was an extra paid option.

I think your LCI (and prob a efficient dynamics model) should be electric power steering with maybe servotronic? I'm not sure at what point in time they made it optional. But I may stand to be corrected on this.

Mine is an 08 model and the steering feels heavy and weighted. i test drove the new 1 series 118d the other day the steering in that was so light and effortless. i can see this being good for around town but it takes the fun out of driving imo I prefer the old style

I think you'll find that it varies with road speed and not with engine RPM; you wouldn't want your steering force altering with the throttle.
