The definitive ETS Intercooler fitting guide

Gents,

Ant1985 and I are fitting my ETS FMIC this weekend and we have about 4 or 5 guides to work with, all but one of which are for different intercoolers.

I bought the kit of someone here second hand, so it comes with no instructions (that I know of after a very brief look in the box) and I could do with a really good guide to get us started.

Can anyone link to a decent ETS FMIC DIY guide by any chance? IF any of you fitted it, can you recall any major problems or tips that we need to know about?

Thanks
Matt

Even new it comes with no instructions!

There must be a link on here somewhere? The only extra bit with an ETS unit is the cold side charge pipe and hoses.

Mine was fitted at Darren Wood BMW in Stockport, they did it easily with no issues.

After gettng the undertray off, the old one comes out in about 30 seconds (literally), only 2 screws hold it in and the quick release hoses come straight off.

Then they removed the old charge pipe and fitted the new one, a bit of aligning first , connect up the IC, then tighten it all up.

There is a small strip of undertray trim/seal that won't fit back, so we left that off, no problems yet.

I can confirm that the PDF guide (based on a 1 series) above is absolutely fantastic.

Fitting the ETS Cooler really could not be easier and can be achieved on the drive with only about 18 inches of clearance under the front end. It requires limited tools and moderate skill at best - it's really straightforward, just a little bit tight in there.
