I'm running 38R-36F just now which seems to work best for me.

The tire-makers use a formula for that, in wich they use the load on the axles and the maximum speed you drive. Also the camber-angle ( alignment), has influence on the needed pressure.
I once got hold of the formula and went running with it. Made several spreadsheets for it. But the one for recalculating it for other then OEM tires gives lower answers then the tire-makers give nowadays for tires with low aspect-ratio, wich you probably have ( the 40 in fi 235/40ZR19 ). Reason is that if you put maximum load on those tires with the reference-pressure they are calculated for, it gives more deflection then is save for the tires. To make a long story short, keep to the high adviced pressures, thoug comfort and gripp is gone then, only to prevent you from damaged tires. You can also give me more details of your car, like GAWR's and maximum speed, and of the tires the maximum load or loadindex and spreedcode (Y is up to 300km/h) and kind of tire ( Standard load or XL), then I wil calculate a save pressure , wich wil give no damage to the tires. |
