Where did you see that? If that's true, I was right when I argued that there is no way this car was going to be 300-400 pounds lighter than the E92 as people were speculating. I estimated it at 150-200 lbs lighter. And if it truly is 3410 (and that's based on the same specs of 150 lbs driver, 33 lbs cargo and 90% gas) that means the 135i is 175 lbs lighter than the 335i Coupe. Pretty much right where I said it should be. But OHHH the horror of the "scared to death cat eye" front headlights. Yikes they are just not pretty. And my verdicts still out on the stubby back view too. This car will surely be a hell of a performance car, but at the cost of looks and space, and built around the outgoing E46 3 series chassis. Don't know how receptive people will be to that. PROcede v2.0 in this car will make it a screamer. But then you wonder if you can fit 19 x 9.5 inch wheels on 265 tires in those wheel wells. If not, you won't even begin to get a smidge of traction on that lighter car. Time will tell. My guess is it'll be priced at about $2K less than the 335i Sedan and $4K less than the 335i Coupe. If so, I'd still ante up the extra $4K for the 335i Coupe over this 135i Coupe. |

specs are here.
HP is 306 This thing is heavy MPG urban 21.7 extra-urban 40.4 Combined 30.7 with the big brakes and the M stuff...now I'm guessing the price tag to be at least $37K all the fanboys wishing the 135 to be a cheap buy can kiss their dreams goodbye.....I see BMW is making the 135 as a M1 (since M1 was already used for the supercar)..this 135 is no college kid car

its bmw's answer to the G37 vs 335 comparison. Comparable performance and a cheaper car - just not quite as elegant. Well, neither is the G (as compared to the bmw)

Guys that 306 HP is the European rating.
The 335i is also rated at 306 HP with their system. Just like the E92 M3 is rated at 420 hp there, that converts to 414 here! Personally, it seems like it has a much more restrictive exhaust having only on muffler. I can't see how it could put down quite the same power as the 335i's with that more restrictive exhaust. But since our engines are overrated anyway, they probably still are making enough power to claim the same 300 hp and 300 tq anyway. Will be interesting to see owners dyno the car stock. I'm betting we see 5-6 hp less on average out of the 135i because of that exhaust. But at (1560 kg) 3440 pounds it's only 145 pounds less than 335i Coupe. Again, even less than what I said, and WAY less than all those people saying it would be 300-400 pounds less. Sure it'll probably run the 1/4 in about .2 and 1 mph faster, but..... Too bad it's kinda ugly!!! |

I think yall are being too harsh on the 1 series looks wise... when I first saw the E90 and E92 pictures, I was definitely not impressed at all, but eventually it started to grow on me. I think when people see the 135 in person, its going to look alot meaner than anything that is not a M series car. But that said... I expect a base 135 to start around $35k or so, with some basic options getting it up to around $38k. If the car tops over $40k I don't see the car selling well at all.
If you put a 135 next to a 335 with similar options, I expect the weight to be around 200 lbs less or 3250 pounds +- 50 lbs The M sport package will be standard on the 135 and the option list will be much greater on the 335... which all of those options add weight in some shape or form. I do expect the 335 will have more straight line potential just due to more space for intake and exhaust piping. |

It looks like a mini me of the 335....small seat in the rear serves no purpose...high sticker price...i'll stick with the 3 series...I think it will be a flop in the U.S, but Europe a seller!!!

I really think the E93, E92 and E91 are the only really attractive BMWs these days, and I say that as an E90 owner. The 7 is a bloated mess, the 6 looks just OK, but has some seriously awkward angles and the 5 looks like it was drawn by, well, a five-year-old. The 1 coupe, from the front, sinks to new levels of hideousness, but at least it doesn't look quite as weird as the 1 hatchback.
It's a good thing that BMWs still drive better than anything else, but they need to be careful since Audi is going to do some serious catching up.

The 135i Coupe weighs 3440 pounds "unladen" weight The 335i Coupe weighs 3585 pounds "unladen" weight. There is a 145 pound difference, not 200, 300 or even 400 as some speculated even last week. Oh, and I disagree. Upon seeing the E92 335i Coupe, I thought it looked awesome from the get go. Same with the M5 and 6 series, etc. I thought the original X3 looked ackward and ugly from the first pics and it is (better now with this year's redesign). The 135i isn't completely ugly, but it surely isn't as sweet looking as the 335i Coupe, or even the Z4 M It's now the most ackward and "weird" looking car in BMW's stable. Those bug eyed headlights are pretty off putting. |

I tried to tell ppl a couple weeks ago that I found documentation that said the 135i wasn't as light as many ppl speculated. A ~ 150lb. difference (less than the 335i) won't do much, especially considering it doesn't have the same exhaust system as the 335i. My guess is that it will run neck-and-neck with the 335i...not bad for several thousand dollars less, but you counteract the less $$ with questionable older-style E46 ext. looks and less interior space. Either way, it will be a great bang for your buck (and another good response to the G37), but for a few thousand $$ more, the 335i is just so much nicer, imho.

That is why I said 200 lbs difference after you throw in options. Intially the difference is 145 pounds, but once you add in the sports package which the 135 already comes with and you add options that are in the premium package that may not be available on the 135... the difference may widen to 200 lbs. But a bone stock 335 vs a 135 is going to be 145 pounds as you said. I would like to see the official US specs, even though I assume the euro models are pretty close to the state side ones.
