Which floor jack do you use for your e90/91/92/93?

I'm interested in picking up a floor jack, but I'm not sure which ones are good. I saw that Costco carries Torin floor jacks for $99.99. Are these any good?

Just make sure it is low profile so that it fits under your car.

I purchased a 3 ton jack from Sears that does the job also. But it barely fits under the car for the front tires.

I have been wondering this questions myself as well. Is their any company that makes floor jacks we should stay away from? Any you would recommend?

next question is where are the safe jackpoints?

I always fear the plastic rectangles will burst at anytime under load...

as long as you don't use the stock ones, you are ok.
Costco has some good low profile cheap ones.

Why do you want a "good" one? I bought a cheepie at Pep Boys and it works fine. My neighbor has a nice one, which I borrow to rotate the tires so I can raise both front and back.

As long as it lifts your car, it's fine.

The plastic blocks are it AFAIK. You'll want to keep a jack away from the suspension.

Rolled up Newspaper

I always stuff a rolled up newspaper between the jacking point, and the jack. I still managed to "slightly" deform one of the plastic jacking points. But, I can live with it.

Np. Glad you found it. I just thought the manual would be more helpful than how I could describe it.

As to the topic at hand, I need to buy a new jack, I don't like cheap jacks because they break! I was going to get the Sears Craftman's but from the reviews on Sears it breaks!

I designed an aluminum block to fit in this rectangle, and transfer the weight of your car from the frame to the jack through a solid medium. Enough people started bugging me that I have been running batches of them for e90post members. Please see the following post for more information on this:

Wow, a lot more people with the same comment. Everyone who is asking about how not to destroy the jack blocks and properly lift their car needs to see this thread:

As for jack, I have a 1.5 ton sears aluminum low profile jack. It works great..

I have a Harbor Freight jack... Also, I usually drive the car onto some 2x4's before jacking. This usually gives me the necessary clearance to get a jack underneath.
