tire size on type 189 wheels

I am mounting some type 189s on my e90 328, the fronts already have 245/45/18s on them, but I need new tires for the rear, going to get some used ones off craigslist, can I run 245/40/18s? how does this affect things? Or should I run 245/45/18?

245/45/18 is really big on an e9x, even 245/40/18 is on the large side.

seems like everybody with oem 18s run these sizes, I plan on running 245/45/18 in front, and 255/40/18 rear, thats what many people run on their 335s and it should fit exactly the same on my e90 328 correct? no spacers....

I can't say that I've seen too many 335s with 245/45/18s. The most common tire sizes in the front are 225/40/18 (oem) and 235/40/18. The 245/45 is a big tire!

245/45 is huge. Generally you'll want a 225/40/18-235/40/18 front. 245/35/18-255/35/18 rear, on a staggered setup of course.
