Angry Cancelling e92 335i, ordering Audi S5

After having ordered 335i in March, I still haven't received an allocation from BMW. My dealer doesn't know when they are going to get one. Last time they promised me August production and Sept delivery - now this got cancelled.

Now I'm seriously considering taking my deposit back and buying an Audi S5. After having had a look at the car and driving it for a bit (luckily the dealer already has a demo car!) I ordered an S5 that is coming in a month. I must admit I really liked the car, and in my opinion it beats the 335i (at least by looking at the numbers). If everything goes as planned, I'm going to be one of the very first people in town to own this car...

What do you guys think?

Just make sure you go for an extended test-drive in both cars and see which one you like better. I have not had a chance to drive an S5 yet, but I highly doubt it can take on 335.

Some things are worth waiting for. Have you test drove both of them? Which is better? To me thats all that matters. Waiting is shitty ( i know I waited ten weeks for my car and Ive waited going on 7 weeks for my rims) But i would rather wait longer to get somethng I want as opposed to just getting something quickly.

How much are you buying it for?
Isn't that more comparable to an M3?

There was a recent good review from a former Audi owner here... He didn't like it that much, the new S5.

Hey whatever makes you happy, I myself will jump ship from brand to brand without hesitation if the car better suits me. Just post a review of your experiences when that S5 comes in

Edit: Quattro is probably a good idea for Russia too.

I didn't test drive the 335i, because none of dealers here does test drives on them. The only 3-series that you can test drive is e90 325i, which is nothing compared to 335i, you know that. However I know a few people who own a 335i and I've spoken to lots of people who have driven one, so I get a pretty good idea of what its like.
Unfortunately, I can't say I test drove the S5 either, it's not available for test drives. I could only drive it in the dealer's parking lot - the most i could get out of them...
So any reviews from people who actually have driven both cars properly would be helpful and welcome!
So far I can say that the S5 looks better to me. First, in terms of numbers (v8 vs v6, quattro vs rear-wheel drive, 354hp vs 306hp, 5,1secs vs 5,5 secs). Secondly, I really like the style of the car. Thirdly, the options in that car are amazing - to mention one, bang&olufsen audio - sounds incredible! Finally, the car is going to be unique - i'm going to own one of the very first in Moscow (plus the allocation of S5s to my country is again quite low). And I forgot - that V8 sound... so sweet...

It's slightly more expensive than 335i. The 335i I ordered came up to 69.000 Euro because of all the extras I want. This S5 costs about 77.000 Euro, but the dealer discounted it to roughly 74.000 for me (I can see how they want to drag customers away from BMW!)

Congrats and enjoy! Sounds like you found a very nice car. I don't blame you one bit for switching...I would too if I had that many problems getting the car.

I think you should have ordered a Factory Delivery 335 in Munich. Picked up the car and went for a fun vacation somewhere. Then upon your return to Russia, if you didn't enjoy the car, simply resell it. I bet it fetches a very good price because of the scarcity...

Nice choice. The bimmer will be a bit more "athletic" with traditional bmw dynamics. The S5 will have the rumbling V8 and more stylish.

Cant go wrong with either... I'm going V8 next time as well :rocks: cant beat the engine noise

No. Everyone takes chances now. They don't offer test drives on top-of-the-range cars because it doesn't pay off. There are very few people out there who can afford such cars, and those who can will buy them without test driving. On the other hand, there are too many of those who would love to go for a ride, but will never buy.

Yes I could have taken a trip somewhere, but to me it's not that big a deal. I'd rather read the reviews

I think I have already made my decision. No offence to the members here. Again, any opinions from people who have driven both cars would be really appreciated.

Thanks everyone for your comments so far.

I'll probably go on the waiting list for the M3 and consider changing the S5 for it next year. Or maybe think twice and consider the RS5 as well...

Being a V8 and a 2008 will be grrrreat. A superior interior for sure. But no way it will be as fast and agile as the 335i. But in the end, it doesn't matter that much.

after i placed my order (called my sales person over the phone) i had to make an appointment with his "majesty" to go over numbers and get a confirmation. He's been delaying my appointments every day now. he wouldnt stay until the evening, or he'd have some excuse. Im getting tired of him soon. I make an appointment with him everyday. If he cancels today im going out of BMW.

it's like they kiss ur hand to make an order, once you do you have to kiss their ass to have their attention.
