Manual Trans Question

I have a 335 Coupe with less than 1000 miles. Seems like the manual transmission has gotten "clunky" all of a sudden. Is this common?

I have a 328i coupe 6MT, and felt like I was getting clunkier (clumsier) with the transmission around that point as well. Not really sure why. However, moving the seat back a bit helped for me.

No, definitely not!

If you have been driving MT for years, then you should take the cars back to the dealer.

BTW, over 4,200km (2,600 miles) on mine and it is getting smoother after the break-in (which lasted longer than I thought, ~3,000km).

I just past 2000 miles the gearbox is getting smoother and smoother, so you may have an issue. Head to the dealer.

Is it possible you're just noticing the clunkiness now, with some of the excitement of a new car wearing off?

I found the transmission to be quite clunky/balky/notchy when the car was new, which is slowly improving after 2500 miles. It's still got a long way to go before I would call it smooth, though.

different manual question

Does your car show the gear you are in on the display? i.e. M1? I have a manual and it does not. The book says it should show - but that might be only for the auto 6 tiptronic.

Thanks.
